wow, this is totally awesome! would suggest just some minor changes:

i'd alter the three little bubbles under the actual thought bubble on the left or the right because it looks copy-pasted atm.

and I'd like to see what it looks like with some texture added. (i know, there's texture in the presentation but that's just 2 multiplied layers ;) ). simple graphics usually look better with texture imo.

besides these minor things it's ready to sub!

The bubbles are actually not copied but I tried to make them look that way to illustrate the couples mood. I guess it did not work that well.

I think the placement on the shirt needs a little more work. Did you think about a possibility to bring the "thinking-bubbles" on the back? I would try this!

And iīm not sure, if the garbage can is needed. Well, it looks fine with itīs orange color, but I think there are already lotīs of elements… think it would be clearer without the garbage can.

The idea was that without the trash can the design would be a bit boring. At least the couple at the bottom would look a bit lonely.

I was thinking that there wasn't a "I don't know what" to the design, but Algi's point is right. Maybe have them making out, drawing-out their wedding rings? If maybe you could imply that they're married better, maybe a baby stroller? - none of these are very subtle ideas, but maybe you can think of something.



One small thing that I think could make the design better: Notice how the layout faintly resembles and upside-down triangle... or a heart. Flipping the girl and guy so that the spaceship is on the outside, would further support that layout.



I really like the the charred garbage can, hilarious detail.

Yes, I thought of having them holding hands at first. Then I thought, having them just sitting there leaves it to the viewer to decide what it is about. And I found that a little more interesting. Plus, perfect strangers usually don't hate each other for no reason, so it is pretty likely that they are a couple.

Turning it into a heart would be really nice but I think it takes a lot of work. I will start experimenting tomorrow.

Oh, and don't forget to check out...

I'm not saying you should make it look like a heart; it is a little cliche. But it's nice for a layout to have structure, yours has a rising-like shape, hearts also share this; that's why I mentioned it. But the spaceship disturbs this.

Thanks for the feedback DAMG0014. But I'm afraid you are talking about things that are a bit above my level, sorry. I thought the smoke and the beam from the ship corresponded well enough to make it balanced, but I don't know these things.

It's great, but i think it's a bit large on the shirt.

i really like this! but think DAMG0014 was onto something with shifting the 2 thought bubbles. not because it'll be more vaguely heart shaped but just for a better ballance. something about the placement isnt working... perhaps make one thought bubble higher and one lower to throw off the symmetry

if it were me i'd lower the left bubble, take that shit apart in whatever program you used and play around with placing them in all sorts of different ways till one just clicks.

I agree with what komek was saying about the trash can..perhaps make it a little less central (a bit more off to the side).. and the thought bubbles do seem a bit too symmetrical as zoso1 said...



..but I don't think you need taller smoke.. it just seems that with the current placement the bubbles seem to outline a persons chest.. and if I had boobs this might make me reluctant to get it for that reason :-/

I see what you mean about the bust issue MR Production. It did not occur to me before but it's quite obvious now, looking at the placement. Good thing you pointed it out. I would have looked like a complete pervert submitting it like that.

Back to the drawing board.

overall i really love it. my only objection is that the woman seems to have shrunken in the alien abduction scenario. i understand that visually maybe she needs to be smaller, but there seems to be a large difference between that and the other panels, proportionally.

Well, I'm glad at least one person person agreed with me. I didn't mean confuse you; I'm not a teacher, so I have problems explaining what I've learned.



I think a simpler way to explain it is:



- Notice how the little thought bubbles go outward, but then the asteroid smoke and alien ray go inward.



- This makes a rhombus shape, but the larger clouds are going outward, like the little ones, but they're big enough to disrupt the rhombus.



- Why not follow the flow made with all the clouds, a "V" shape. For it to work, you'd have to switch the placement to of the people and their intentions. Switch it whichever way you want, but as long as long as the smoke and alien ray follow the outward "V" lines.

I made two versions with changes based on suggestions.

Slide nr 2 was based on the V-shape idea but because of how the couple is sitting and how I had to link them to the bubbles, it did not turn out spot on.

Changes:

Thought bubbles are moved so they are less in line.

Smoke re-shaped a bit.

Shine around the woman, from the UFO-beam is a bit thicker.

And the mans butt it no longer half.

I think that is about it.

I think we can forget about the v-shape idea and all that. It was suggested after the last update, but I think it is a bit above my level.

I posted it with a yellow background simply because I didn't bother to change it for this version. I am thinking of maybe submitting it as a second alternate colour.

@JCMaziu: As you can see, I'm struggling with the language as well. Thanks for your blood, sweat and tears.

About the placement: I placed it this high to avoid being accused of sexism. Someone pointed out that the large bubbles would outline a woman in a ...inappropriate way, if the design was to be placed any lower.

I'm surprised you still wanted to hear from me; I don't come off as the nicest guy on people's critique, with my lack of smileys and general enthusiasm. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about looking sexist, that's silly, and if other people think otherwise, they are even sillier. It just looks odd that one thought bubble would be bigger than the other. A design is not bad because it's sexist; it's bad because it's just bad.



Yeah, the "V" thing didn't pan-out as well as I thought it would. You cannot have the accidents be on the outside of the shirt for obvious reasons. I don't know if you still want to pursue it, but if you pointed both the ray and smoke toward the outside more, it should look better. And you should make the original-bottom couple smaller and keep the re-imagined versions equally sized.



The design is pretty much done, if you could only get the placement just right... I still have a problem with your original-inward direction, but that's just me.

I made the couple at the bottom a bit bigger, and thought I would post it to see what you people think.

It's the opposite to what DAMG0014 suggested (ha ha) but I read the posts too late.

I also changed the placement a little bit and played around with the flash presentation which is unessential.

Funny and well drawn. The only thing I can think of is maybe changing the color of the people and things in the imagination bubbles to create some variety, and seperate then from the "real" people. But thats up to you, its works fine now too.

looks great. Have you tried swapping the man and woman around? so the crossed legs are facing away from each other(body language visual)and then the UFO bubble has a placement in the corner of the front of the tee.Not sure if it would look any better just an idea to play with
