Wrestling with the recession - looking at alternative employment during the current economic climate.



note - this is my first ever attempt at using illustration and it's still not finished. Looking for feedback on how to improve. My orginal design includes the Sumo wrestler in front of a fast food counter and there's a Mexican wrestler behind the till taking orders..

Bump... sorry, This really is my frist time using Illustrator so looking for any feedback at all to develop. I haven't finished all details like shading and skates, but over all development tips would be cool :)

hahaha! Great idea! good blend of professions. i think this looks pretty good right now, but you could see what it looked like with a luchadore instead. I think both ideas work. The one thing that I would work on is the difference in style. the burger looks completely diffferent from the wresler, which looks different from the roller skates. not sure if this was done on purpose to illustrate the differences, but i think its a bit distracting. cool beans!

Sweet! Thanks for the feedback. I hear what you're saying. I'm keen to start on the luchadore but I'm still trying to figure out Illustrator so I'm making sloooow progress.

So did you draw all of this in Illustrator?

How are you finding it?

I can't get my head around it at all

It seems so tedious and soul sucking (Adobe illustrator)

This is great if it's your first attempt using Illustrator, I think mine was probably a star and some text on a curved path, mind you that was a few years ago! :D



Would love to see the roller skates in classic 80's design - blue with red and yellow stripes! Chur.

I'd separate the wheels from the shoes. Try a black line around the burger, or maybe one thick line around the whole image instead of the thin lines you're using now.



Excellent design other than that.

Also, there's a little problem with his left hand, and with the placing of the whole image. Try adding more details for the shoes.

I think add more detail since the design is less thing in it.

This is a great Design. I would buy it.

hahaha, I love it! I would love to see it in more of a 50's retro style and colouring though! and maybe a milkshake with the burger!

Man i'm struggling... I got rid of the burger - too much detail in it which clashed with the rest... now i'm struggling with the skates... damn Illustrator will be the end of me. Still going but i'll upload v2 with some changes and progress.

Need to redo skates and shade on right hand. Have swapped burger (too distracting) for a milkshake. Might need to add some detail to it thou. An image or something.

I like the idea and the general illustration, but I would advise you to work on the roller skates, they look less achive than the rest of the drawing...maybe add some shadows.

Nice improvement! as donlope01 said, you should work more on the skates.

I hear ya - I'm going to cut his feet off and start again... Do you think I need a little bit of shading around the eyes/bridge of nose as well?

Yeah I would work on keeping a consistent line quality throughout, especially with the platter, milkshake, and skates in relation to the body.



I still would love to see this in more of a 50's style!
