Little more detail in the waves and rocks and you got yourself a winner! The design just needs a little polish.

i agree with eDigitalArt. Just add a little more detail and this will be ready for submission ;D

OH and the part extending out to the back fin needs a little work, should be a bit narrower.

The only thing I noticed was the white pattern on the tail, the rest of the whale's white is curvy and smooth and the fin is etched. Other than I think it's ready to submit.

This is an awesome idea! I think the whale needs a bit of tweaking, though. Maybe add a bit more contrast to the shape, ie. thinner where the tail meets the body, maybe the body could be a little curvier. I love the background, good stuff!

really cool design. The only thing is I think the whales nose needs some work. ITs not shaped like a normal killer whales. Otherwise I think its fantastic

Excellent idea and very good execution (the sun does look cool). I would recommend that the whale has more of a face and perhaps that the sword is pointing the other way, like it's out for attack.

I might tweak the tail and body some, they're not quite curving in the right places. I don't know if a real killer whale is actually super curvy, but this needs some more.



I agree with the sword comment also, I had a hard time reading it as a sword. I was thinking it was a pool cleaning tool for a while. Nice concept, I'd just keep working on the illustration.

i think its great, but maybe a brighter red and a darker blue would help to pop! but its fun and should be a shirt.

The whale looks kinda stiff against the waves. Try giving him some more bend in his back. You also probably dont need the stroke under his jaw

Yours looks pretty cool. Maybe make the sword a little more visible and have a whaling boat running away from the whale. That would be awesome!

I made a few minor adjustments and I'm still not sure if I agree with those of you that want the sword angled differently. Let me know how to keep improving it.

I like it, but i really loved the twist in the cord from the first image.

I think the concept is there but you need a stronger, more complete graphic. I assume you are using the stroke function in illustrator for the waves, that is the problem with stroke, it doesn't always go the way you want it. Already I can spot a few mistakes and the overall look is a tad messy for the waves. I think you should manually draw in the lines with the pen tool. The killer whale could also be more natural. Play with the light and shadows more and I think you would really bring this concept out.

I feel that he should have an eye along with an expression though. Something to give him a feel of aggression.



Also, the blue contrasts a little too much with the red. Maybe darker for both of them here. I mean it is the evening, right?

I agree about the twisted ends on the sword. The whale looks better though. I would think about changing the shape of his arm, it looks a bit stiff and unwhale-like.

I really like the orange backdrop, and the arm looks better but I would angle it more so it's not so upright. The background trees are a little difficult to make out clearly. It's almost there though.

Nice but I think the colors are a bit to dark, it will be more plesent for the eye with lighter colors.

Good concept, but the rocks feel spotty and incoherent. And the whale's smile/jaw feels weird, like he has a lantern/frankensteinesque jaw.

i think its a bit overburden. I'd try to align the diffrent styles of the elements ...

It's cute! but I'm not diggin the ocks in the background.

maybe keep (and refine?) the rock with the temple on it, and lose the other one - it does kinda clutter things up. I would also curve up the whale's body more, he looks a little stiff at the moment. And then it's gonna be RAWSOME :D

This design is hot, I would suggest having some water drops follow the whale to make it a bit more realistic as if it just came out the water. Maybe even a ripple right under the whale's tail. But still a hot design. Thanks for your advice as well.

fun idea! i think, personally, you should just copy the ancient japanese samurai artwork style more closely, make it more tongue in cheek sort of. and yeah, the whale needs more work, the tail area especially, and the jaw does look weird, not very sleek, killer, threatening, more comical and clumsy looking. if you did go with a more traditional look, you could even just get rid of the rocks and put the sun there with rays going out (you could still keep the rays in the same circular shape thats there). or make the rocks look more like islands (once again, reference the traditional styles).
