also for the 1st & 3rd lines you have =, but not the 2nd-- maybe make them consistent

the hierachy is a little askew, really cool concept I just think the visual linking isnt working correctly as it looks to me, more like a collection of cat and toast pictures and less like a comical sequence.

First thing i can suggest is making the gaps between the horizontal sequences a bit bigger.

Definitely liked the 2nd version better.

I'm not sure the toast thing follows the joke though. Hmm...maybe butter arranged differently on a plate (since the red wrapper thing seemed a little odd) and remove the toast on the cat thing? I don't know, I really liked the first one.

should the toast on the first line have no butter on?

I think it would be stronger if you had just one single line as opposed to the 3 lines trying to explain the butter+bread/cat. Perhaps keep the last line and add simple and concise labels under each picture.
