Are you Japanese by any chance? I live in a small town in Japan, all we have is ramen shops everywhere! I love everything about modern culture here, apart from the 'Japanese cute culture'. Ahhh i really can't stand it. The way girls drive around in pink cars with plastic pink flowers lining the interior and small dogs dressed like people!



All that being said, I do like your design, it’s not over the top Kawaii and definitely captures Japan. The one thing i would change is the colour from pink to red. That's just a personal opinion, other than that great, submit.

I like the pink, but can the design extend to the sleeves? They look really bare in comparison, like they don't fit?

Huge impact with this t-shirt, very bold (which I love)

i like it but maybe put it on a real shirt to make the design more presentable.

Really bold design that catches the eye quickly! Cool stuff.



It might be better if you move the text down away from the collar a bit, and I wonder what it would look like if you gave the text the same red/pink border that the bowl dude has. The text running across those two colors by itself really strains the eyes.

Yeah, stroked text is usually a no-n0, but I thought in this situation it might help...but sadly, no.



The placement of the text looks much better in this version. Having not done too many japanese-style design in my day, I don't know of much else to add to this one!

I think this is a great submission.

I really like the color choice as well as the design... Try to play around with the positioning of the bowl and the text as well, instead of having it in the same spot on your different versions. Other than that good work.

Grrglegm. I still dont like the text. I would wear it, though, even though it's really crazy cotton candy colored. But... I still really don't like the type face. It needs a LOT of character IMHO.

yes, the blue/pink gives good energy to the shirt! try individual white outlines around the text characters, so that it matches the energy of the rest of the shirt. if it doesn't look right, just scrap that idea.

I tried the white outlines, and it didn't look quite right... As for making the font bolder, I can't seem to find any other Japanese fonts... (Any help on this would be much appreciated.) Though I personally like the simple font, I can see how a bolder font would possibly enhance the design.

i love this. my only possible suggestion would be another color option. i like this mix visually-- but in reality, I tend to wear more subtle colors. could you have one bright and one muted option?

Text is great- the font looks a bit canned, though. Could you hand draw it? I know a lot of designers are down on using canned fonts and I imagine the threadless staff may also subscribe to those sensibilities.

i DEFINITELY like the text, but i wonder if its position could be improved a little somehow. it almost goes into the armpit, and it's slanted either too much or not enough. i can't tell.

hmmm try putting the text on the back of the shirt and just have the picture of the bowl in the front. See how that looks..I like the colors but try to play around with different colors too to get more of a diversity..

hmmm as far as colors goes I still like the blue and pink that you have on the girl model. but i would say try using white and blue and see how that looks also try using different colors for the bowl and see how that looks too. Hope I was able to help buddy lol

heyyyy budddy lol hmm i like how u made the text have like a bubble around it. Try playing around with the placement of the text like see what it would like with the text going side to side instead of up and down. Or even have the text on the back of the shirt and the design in the front.

This is cute, I guess, but the whole fetishisation of Japanese culture kind of weirds me out. "Japanese stuff is cute and cool!" designs tend not to do very well here, but I guess they did print this, so you never know.



As far as your design, I would probably make the text white/light pink (whatever color the bowl's blush is) instead of black.

I like this :) the chopsticks definitely add to the cuteness, don't remove them ^_^

Just to provide a brief explanation. I'm trying to see how feedback influences the development of ideas (in this case design). I don't know if pink is the best color to use though... try using another color maybe (Just a suggestion, no need to listen to me).

Haha, Gergeosson, version six has an alternate color of blue if you would like to take a look, but the lighter pink (the original had magenta) won out over the blue in the end lol!

I think it would be even moreso if the black ideograms where blue OR magenta, and the blue area surrounding the text was white.

The cute face could also take up more of the bowl.



You should check out some of the early work of thedesignersrepublic, it had a heavy japanse influence.

Thanks so much everyone!! Apparently they can print the entire front like that Yadira because in the beginning I left the design off of the sleeves, but I had many requests to extend it to the sleeves so I'm sure they can do it lol!! XD
