Im taking on Phil's sub "fastfood" which I felt was underscored, regardless it was a great idea, and I thought it would be fun working with the concept



let me know what you think, this is a quick sketch of what envision it to be, and from here on Imma work it, should I add faces? without faces I thought was cooler, food with no faces ftw! any other details you guys think could make the design stand out more?

Looks great so far. I'd like to see them without faces. I'm sure with them you can still capture the moment using your masterful skills :)

Imma sketch it out with more detail and upload a new version in a bit. since it might be too early of stage to egt any real suggestions :)

Your extreme talent for detail could make this design messier. some scattered fench fries maybe and I 'd really like to see that the hamburger ran through his own dripped condiments and is leaving ketchup/mustard footprints.

Let me be the first gusy to say that I think the messiness works for it. I'd even like to see it more disorderly in the next V. I think the soda should be losing his lid a bit to reveal some sloshing ice cubes. Their body positions could also use some varation--they look a little too in sync.

Hamburger would look like he was booking it a little more if you did him on end and tilted him forward maybe.

right now just make it in color and stuff and i think it will be really cool

Love the detail so far and they do have a real sense of action. I would like to see their "bodies" warped a little bit to show different stages of exaustion. Perhaps those little marathon numbers? Maybe that would muddy up the pun. Can't wait to see what happens with this.

No!! I had an idea with personified racing inanimate objects! No fair! Meh... anyways, congrats on the print, and yeah. I'ma' sub anyways, maybe they'll like it.

I like the 'sloppier' suggestion -- anything that implies more speed: some fries flying loose, ketchup flittering backwards (maybe onto the drink?), lettuce flapped up into the 'face' of the burger...



the arms need variety -- maybe one can have grasping hands out in from of it?



the legs on the drink look like he's tip-toeing, and I think just exaggerating the gestures even more would work.



But really, it looks so good...

If you re-sketch it maybe try a crazy angle like from in front below - like they are running at/over you.

great suggestions, Imma try and slighty different approach I think, but not really sure yet.

I love it without faces. I also agree with the lid of the drink kind of coming off, aside from that, I think its great the way it is(obviously it's still a sketch, but you know what I mean).

maybe you should flip the image so they look this they are running left to right? is just a more natural way to read the image.

Cute cute!! Great idea, clean up the line art, give it some color and slap it on a tee and you will have a great piece. I think that your placement would be pretty cool if you had them near the bottom as if they were running around from the backside of the tee, that would be awesome!!!

Critique mine please?

I don't think there should be a finish line, unless you can make us understand why they are racing for it. So why would food run (other than "fast food") maybe something or somebody hungry is after them, or they are trying to escape a bag? Whatever the case, you'll make it look awesome!

I sort of agree--there's no reason to explain them running. I mean, if food suddenly gained a consciousness, don't you think the flight response would be their first survival instinct??:)

needs to stand out with the other two. maybe one red one green. Are they just running maybe they should have eyes, at least the background ones. And maybe there should be a reason why they are running after the hamburger, maybe he took something of theirs or some other reason. Clever idea, though.

The burger looks better now than in the sketches (the angle). Great lineart!



Maybe some of the fries could be flying out of the box, that would add more movement.

Really like the idea and where this is going. One tiny thing though, I don't like the way the burger's right foot is twisted towards the viewer. I think it might look better twisted a little bit the other way?

I think that's his pinky you can see to the front, which would make it correct. I like the bit of grease or what-have-you that's hitting the cup behind him.



The foot also caught my eye, needs to be rotated clockwise.



I don't think it needs further explanation. They're running, they're 'fast food.'

I loved it until odd one mentioned that the feet should be on the center of the bun instead of the side... now I can't get it out of my head. Could the right foot be shifted back and rotated out a little more? Other than those two things this is really a fantastic start.

It's looking good. I have to agree about the burger's legs... they seem to be off-balance on the side of the bun. I'd like to maybe see a little more squish were the hand is gripping the bun, maybe even some tearing, just to emphasize that it's being held on, not tipped back for some reason.

the burger looks good. How do yo usually color your stuff? Live trace then photoshop or photoshop completely. I like the style. good work.

cool, hes holding himself together! do you just take a picture or scan in your image? i was wondering how large your work template normally is.

I draw it by hand usually ink it by hand then scan it, but this one Im doing mostly with the tablet



this one is like 14in by 10in at 300dpi

oh cool, i've bee looking into doing things a bit fast than using illustrator for outlining and coloring cause it takes me so long. I have to draw it first then outline it then color. When i could just sketch it up pen it then photoshop color it. I'm still working with it though, any tips you have i would greatly appreciate. but good work keep it going.

Line work is so done... this is freakin amazing.

so nice! i was really digging the sweatband on the drink, but no big deal.



the burger legs still seem a bit off. It's hard to tell which is the left and which is the right. And i know they don't really have knees but i think the leg that is fully stretched out would still have a bit of a bend to it in a running pose.



The drinks left foot seems a little awkward too. I think maybe if it was drawn as if it was planted on the ground so you could see less of the sole of the shoe? Anyways.. looking rad as always alex. LOVE the flying pickles! :)

Wait maybe give the fries a bottle of ketchup as it's drinking water, maybe it could be pouring it on it's head. And the burger could be sweating grease. Maybe if they had all different colored sneakers their feet would stand out a little more. Just some simple suggestions but it's sub worthy already.

they do have diff types of shoes tho. ummm Im thinking Imma call it done at this point

this is great, one nit-picky thing is that the soda looks kinda like it's power-walking... that doesn't really matter though. oh also the ketchup that the fries is (are?) holding, the bit spilling out, shouldn't that be red? unless it's darker because it's farther away?



anyway this is totally great can't wait to see it on a tee!

This looks amazing!!! I maybe would just change the placement, perhaps by moving it down, towards the center of the entire front, and enlarge it to make it look as if they were running around the shirt.

This is so great, especially the way you captured the different fast food items in motion, making it feel like they are actually running. I'm not sure if this would help or hurt the design, but what if you had a huge human shadow cast across the shirt to show what they are running from?? Also, love your color scheme and the flying pickle chips.

What happened with this, I'm assuming that it didn't make it because of the "sigh" comment. Why has this been pulled back up by the way, its kind of old :P
