I believe love is the greatest emotion a person can experience. That's why I made this, since I've always had a lack of a love life and want to express my feelings somewhere...

could be a little clearer, and the yellow in the ponytale should be the colour of the back ground, keep working I think

Very cute design! Right now, it seems a little rough. You need shading on the figures, if not more details. Also, shadows below them could help place them to the shirt.

Nice idea. the linework still looks a bit grey in some areas to me. Just needs to be darkened up a bit. Not sure if the chest cavity opening is quite right - perhaps add some half tone shading to "doors" and interior to create more depth. Black shadows are a bit harsh under figures - a half tone shadow here also may work better.

it looks ok, maybe change the t-shirt colour.

take a look at your shadows. from your shading the light source is coming from the right. so your shadows should fall to the left.

^ good point about the shadows. Additionally, the box is missing depth for me, so some shadow could help. Maybe the box shouldn't be depicted straight from the front, since the character isn't?

I like the girl's pose and the placement of the graphic.

The box looks, pardon the pun, block-ish. The other images are whispy and curvy with a smooth finish and shadowing, whereas the box is the complete opposite. Is there a way you can make it with the same design?

so maybe i shouldn't do a gradient for the shading on the box?

also, in the first couple of versions, the box was a bit more curvy, but people didn't like it! D: what should I do?

this is an adorable idea! i think the box is too distracting though...maybe get rid of it but have either stitches or a band-aid over where his heart was? just a suggestion! keep up the good work

I like the band-aid. You'll want to make the shadows a half tone so you stay within the color count.

but, i DO have only 8 colors;

1 black

2 white

3 orange

4 brown

5 red

6 yellow

7 dark yellow

8. pink

I love this, its insanely cute

all I would suggest is, choose a less intense color instead of that yellow, and instead of black for the outlines, use a darker shade of the red background

This is too cute lol - i'd say more attention needs to be put on the plaster and the heart as the bright colors tend to draw your eyes elsewhere...

Ah-ha-haaaalrighty then.

Realized i had gone over the 8 color limit :O

so i simplified the color scheme AND ALSO, at the same time, made certain colors less intense so they don't distract you from the overall story. Oh, and i also fixed those pesky black outlines.

alright, so i made the girls head and pony tail shading more smooth. also made the shadows at their feet half-tone. it's my very first time at half-toning, so if it doesn't look good, blame that crappy half-tone tutorial that i looked at by alvarejo. damn thing didn't make barely any sense....

how do i get it so that the design has the same shadows as the shirt model?

duplicate the tshirt layer and put it on top of your design. Desaturate it until its black and white. Use curves to give the light and dark more contrast then use Screen blending mode. Your shadow will be over the design.



Its a very cute design. A nice one for kids tee for sure.

I would love to see the use of half tones here, it would definitely give it some more depth and character.

Sorry, half-tones aren't working out for the shading.

actually i meant that I couldn't put half tones for the character's shading on their bodies.

I still kinda wanted to do half-tones for their shadows. the only reason you can't really see the half-tones is because this is a jpg and the quality sucks. my png was too large a file size to upload.

should I maybe just have the shadows solid black?

In my opinion, solid would work better for the shadows. If you want to give the shadow a little more colour, you could always do a very dark burgundy or some other colour that compliments the rest of the piece. Make it a few shades off pure black.

So I got rid of the half tones altogether and replaced the shadows with just a solid black color.

version 11 and 18 are great, it's hard to decide which is better. good move with the stitches and bandage. i think it would be even better if you position them lower as in version 3 and add a heart balloon(like the thought baloon used in comics with the small "puffs" acending into the larger "puffs" except the "puffs" would be hearts) to add some shape and color to the upper-space that would be left empty. your concept is beautiful and easy to understand.

this has had good progression, however, without looking at prior versions, what the white band aid is is somewhat unclear. maybe if it was tan...and for the actual shirt, I would make the design smaller.
