thinking of a new loves art sub...

I got this idea from my old job. I would look down the line of desks with all the designers at them - all with their headphones plugged in listening to music for creative inspiration. The splatters indicate how the music is inspiring the creative right half of the brain!

I like the headphone design. The cord design looks funny to me (too small/thin compared to the headphone design?) and the electrical shock looks really cheap compared to the quality of the rest of the piece. I also think the brain is getting a little lost in the head phones. Maybe they should be smaller or it should be bigger? But I'm not into those huge headphones, so maybe that's part of the joke?



Do you have any ideas for my first sub?

They are "old-school" headphones like the ones all the designers at my job wore - yeah i suppose that's the joke. The cord is an exact scale of the headphone set. The shock was drawn in the same style as the reast - but the low screen res makes the linework on the cord and the shock drop out! sigh

the design of the headphones is indeed cool. i agree that your spark/electrical shock is not good enough, and perhaps even useful? The cord is obviously not long enough to be realistic, on a tee shirt, you'll have the space to let it grow.

Thx Jebs! Yeah I wanted to run it around back maybe and kind of "plug-in" to tee... we'll see. Just wondering about colors: really liked this on the charcoal tee but back got a bit lost!

As said above, even tho it may be to scale the cord needs to be longer.

Sorry but I'm not a fan of the shock as it is, if you could add more linework/shapes to it like the rest of the headphones it may work better.

Hmm yeah, The shock was kind of added on - i think i'll just have the jack running into shirt somehow. Yep, the cord will be longer on shirt.

Thought I'd try out some colour variations - any preferences? Also added some more splatters and reduced numbers of colours....

love the patterns ... great concept ...

may add something to introduce the concept more ..

my only hangup with this design is the splatter, It needs to be different. I don't know if you should mirror it for a peacock like splatter or do one that's a full circle.



I actually like the colors you have now over a blood theme.

Hmm...yeh the idea is that the right side of the brain (the creative half) is the one being inspired by the headphones - see my 1st comment in V1. so not sure if whole brain splatter thing would still work? ma look a bit busy - but i will try it out.

Tbh to make this really something have this using all 4 sections on the tee and one of the colours being the tee shirt colour :), just my opinion :)

I liked the purple - but i love purple tees!

Sorry, I tend to not read all the post, making me a bother.

I like the purple also, nice contrast. My problem with the blue and green is the contrast with the yellow and the black.

I like the orange and the purple the most. I like the head phones made out of swirls. The plug is ok. Nice design.

Thought I'd combine 2 design subs I'm working on - any thoughts? Or is plain brain better?

Still a bit rough - need to tweek a few lines etc - but wondering if this idea is worth pursuing or stick to original design? hmmm

wow this is really psychedelic.. reminds me of quisters brain WIP haha, not sure if he ever subbed that. not sure what else i can say thats useful, except maybe the orange seems too overpowering

LOVE the colors! Looks really nice. I like how you have the electric fun coming off the plug in the first versions. I think you should keep going with this design and add more detail behind it. The splat coming off the brain is cool, maybe add more of that on the right side. Or a design ghosted behind the while thing. It would be really cool if it covered most of the shirt.

The brown just draws attention away from the headphones

Ok I tried the all white idea - looked like lace, wasn't good. But making the whole thing black i think really unifies it into being more of a robot kind of image?!

thanks for the comments - i like yours - i would personally simplify the colours make them more fleshy - might make a cool juxtaposition to the mechanical/technical looking stuff - so maybe pink/coral and red? in place of the blue and orange. But really like the look.

Thanks guys: I think these colours are good - a pinky colour may get a bit lost on the tee.

Nose: It's actually a skull - so the "nose" is really a hole - i used "mexican day of the dead" skulls as reference.

much better!!!! I would move the head up the shirt a bit....its just not sitting quite right to me.... but I am cross eyed so take that with a grain of salt.



I wouldn't play with it too much more would be too easy to overwork it and the design has just the right mix of intricacy and the unexpected as it is!

looks great. i would buy it. I like the last version. remove the headphones, and make them all skull. If I had't seen the first versions, I would'nt have recognized them.
