I just thought I'd zoom in to show how much detail there is in the face. I'm trying to figure out a good way to show both the detail in the face as well as the rest of the design. Thanks everyone for the comments, I appreciate them a lot. Keep them coming!

I really really like it, especially the clouds. Maybe vary the line weight in the lips and nose like you've done in the hair.

The hair and clouds are beautiful. My only suggestion would be to do something with her jaw, as it seems a little masculine. I think if you curved it up a little steeper and moved her chin up a little bit that would fix it.

Otherwise this is beautiful, great job :)

And if you're not busy, a last minute score and comment for my first submission would be much appreciated! 0 days left lol!

Yeah, I noticed that about the jaw but i wasn't really sure how to fix it! Thank you for the suggestions!

I'm wondering if maybe instead of having the feet sticking out of the bottom like in version 1, i should have a close up of just the head, get rid of the feet, and have one arm sticking out of the front of the shirt and another out of the back? or maybe make it look like her arms are the arms of the person wearing the shirt?
Ars Fera
Ars Fera on Jul 17 '09
If you can accomplish that without making it look awkward then go for it. I've seen several shirts try to make the design look like it's got the arms of the actual person on it and it didn't look that great. If you draw it and want to see if it would look awkward, I would put the design on the shirt a person is wearing and see how it looks then.

yeah i suppose it would be a bit awkward. whats the best way to have a design look like its on an actual t shirt? i always wondered how people did it and made it look so good.

To get the design to look like it's on an actual person is somewhat complicated and I can't really explain it.. but there are people who can! In the Threadless search box look up tutorials on it

Hey thanks for ur comment....ur work is really good...especially the concept....but i guess u could change the jawline shape..as the others have mentioned...if u arent able to do it directly in the software...u may sketch it, scan it,trace it in illustrator or corel draw and then replicate the others things in the design just as it is now...just a suggestion.. :) all the best!

Amills on Jul 17 '09
Thanks Meenakshi, actually i made the whole thing in illustrator so its very simple to change the shape of the jaw :)

and thanks again ArsFera, i'll take a look at the tutorial.

A friendly head’s up;

Consider that artists who sub their designs have just 7 days for it to be commented and voted on. I know they, and maybe you too, would expect everyone’s attention to be focused on their entry. It’s understandable then, that someone else trying to use an artist’s score page to solicit attention to his/her work is considered by many here to be disrespectful. So, leaving an address or link to one’s own work on another artist’s scoring page, (it’s acceptable in the critique section), is not the right thing to do. Put another way, it’s the equivalent of a painter walking into another artist’s show and telling people to visit his/her show down the block. Also, doing this is more likely to cause people to avoid your sub and make you somewhat unpopular with many of the artists on threadless. I hope you understand.

That said, your illo and concept are very cool! Maybe you could better integrate your design with the tee by adding more cloud swirls from neck to calfs and fade out the edges. The flat line of clouds, as others have pointed out, is too abrupt right now and is detrimental to the rhythm of the design. Meaning the design doesn't keep the eye to orbiting the illo as much as it could. I linked one design below that uses the fade out technique. It's only one example, so maybe look through the printed tees to see some others. Hope that helps. Cheers!

fade out

thanks for the heads up quister. I don't do this very often so I didn't really realize. and thank you for the suggestions as well. However, the link at the bottom doesnt work :(

Could you re-link it?

Sorry, screwed up the link :P

Quit howling at me

Other fade outs

reach for the moon

top fade out

And I did fade out the glyphs on my "Guitar Hiero" btw, which you were kind enough to score.

Anyway, as I said before very cool design so far, a bit more effort and it will be great. Cheers!
