Please find my second version of this design. I have made the text more narrow, just stuck to one colour, shifted the picks around and changed the background colour (should be a darkish custardy yellow). Would really love to get some opinions on how to improve this further.

What is the placement and tee colour?

Placement will be in the chest section of the t-shirt and the colour will be..actually, I don't really know.



I'm quite new to all this and haven't really experimented with the placement on -shirts yet but hoping to do so soon.



What do you think of the overall concept so far Ricki?

I can't think of other things off hand but I really want to see more "picks" on the shirt.

Yeh prefer part 2 but not surewhere you want to go wih this one. Maybe the picks could be cartoon characters?

the picks could be bigger? cause it look kinda of small and, maybe the red can have a lighter tone?

i prefer your V2. I don't like pretty much your font. About your colors, i'd say that red on white bg is not very attractive. Anyway, the playword is fun, but perhaps we don't see the objects as we should be (bigger)

Super duper thanks for all your comments! Each and every one of your suggestions are highly appreciated! Here are some of my thoughts on your comments:



Neuroplasticity - I deliberately chose these picks as I think these are the ones which people will be more familiar with.



Yaddik - As the design is a play on the slogan itself, i think ppl will identify more with the object itself rather than a cartoon character.



FrenchFries - Yeah, i'm gonna change the colour of the font when i choose a good colour for the t-shirt.



Jebs - your right...picks need to be bigger. The font was self designed and i want this to be simple, with the emphasis on the picks.

Here is my next version of this design. I have made the picks bigger, lightened up the colour of the font and also placed this on a template T.



I'm a wee bit doubtful of the colour...please can you comment on the red.



For the picks, my original idea was that the black boxes represent a ticky box that you have on questionnaires. It also goes hand in hand with the slogan of the design.

I like the concept and the rendering of the picks, but I think the red is too salmon pink if you know what I mean. Make it more earth tone/ochre based with a little more orange in it and I think it'll sit better with the shirt.

Thanks for the suggestions and the comment about the font colour. I have changed it to a shade of brown instead of the orange to match the handles of the picks itself.

I have also increased the size of the picks but not sure if it is enough. The placement of these are also slightly tweaked.



Not much difference to the previous version but as always open to suggestions. I hope the simplicity and play of words are enough to raise a few smiles.



Would also love your comments on my Moon design (I think it is ready for submission...what do you think?)

Well, I use GIMP instead of PS and inkscape instead of Illustrator... For the kind of work that I do, they are just perfect!

Guiw - Thanks for the advice. I've got PS right now but i've only just started using it for t-shirt placements (finding it a bit tricky even with vid tutorials!). Have you subbed your design yet?



Urbffjill - yeah, I also agree that the boxes should all be on one side. Problem is that i want to enlarge the picks. Maybe i'll shrink the text to compensate for it. Next version!

Next version....aligned picks to one side (like previous versions), changed the colour of one of the picks (think i was running over the 8 colour limit).



I have yet to place one on a model (currently struggling with this at the moment), but would love feedback on this next one.

OK Just a couple of heads ups: I've noticed some voters come down pretty hard on Type on tees around here - unless it's a type tee done by Threadless of course. It's still a fun idea - but I think the font is a bit heavy and probably too big?

Also lemon tees are not real popular with guys - and this is a pretty male focused tee.

The design itself is fun - but i think it needs something more? Not sure, but I will get back to u if something comes to me!

Thanks for your feedback....verry appreciative! I actually wasn't thinking about submitting it on Type Tees but just the normal one (as it is not primarily just text, but also has pictures). Is that wise?



Honestly, I haven't actually tried this on any other colour t-shirts but do agree that the font is way too dominating. Shrink the font, increase the pick sizes and away with the moon reference! Next version then.

Hey thanks for comment on my sub! Sorry I didn't mean to sub as a type tee - i just meant that as a "normal" art sub, voters can be a bit harsh towards a tee with type on it! I think in this case it's relevant to art tho :)

OK then...new t-shirt mock version! I have taken the advice of T-Lou (thanks..you get extra scones for that!) and made the text smaller and narrower. I have also tried to increase the side of the picks.



There are two different positions on the models, one is higher than the other. Not sure which one is the best one. Also decided to keet the yellow t-shirt colour as i think it looks quite nice.



Next round of feedback...begin!

This is really coming along nicely!! (And I love the touch of the moon - are you leaving it out for good? you could always make it a subtle addition)

Still picking away at this one.

I think it's really clean, but I don't know... the execution's bugging me. Everyone else is liking it, so I guess it doesn't matter, but since I'm here, I might as well say something. I think it would be stronger if the picks were above the text, or if there were not text at all, and the three picks just sitting on the shirt in an interesting way. I think that'd be stronger. Especially if you put some cool textures with it. But nice idea!

Jeiji - appreciate your comments! Please do let me know what you think about the execution on this one. I actually have though about taking the text off (as ppl tell me that Threadless are not too hot on text in some designs), but i find that some designs have a great title but if people don't know what the it its called then sometimes it loses the joke. I think it is is stronger with the text. Like the idea with the picks being on the top...maybe with the text below?



I'll also look into your design!



What do you think about the colour options? My personal fave is the yellow colour...do the rest work?

I HATE SCONES! But yeah, lol. I stand by my opinion on the text, but you have a point. Sometimes it's appropriate. And yeah, I just noticed on the text, how the detail shiny thingies and shady thingies are really thin, and angular. IMHO, it fights with the shape of the text. And I'm kinda' biased about the color, but yellow's my fave, hah!



Oh! And for the guitar pick, maybe put "hard" or "light" on it, like a real pick, and maybe a fakebrand name or something?



For the toothpick, maybe make it a few of them, or a package of them?



Just some thoughts. Do it up!

yeah i think maybe put something else on the guitar pick and something with the toothpick to more easily tell what they are, i thought the guitar pick was a rock even with the text at first. clever though.

I dig it, but think it looks a little big on the shirt. I would make it smaller so it fits into the center of the upper chest.

Thanks for your insight on this one. I do agree that it is a little bit big. The text also has to be a readable size for the while design to work imo. I also want to make the picks bigger as some ppl thought it was was way too small.

This is clever. I would suggest messing with the colors some and also making the three picks a bit smaller.

I like your idea and I like the text as well, but its kinda hard to read the R in "YOUR". other then that I like where this is heading.
