Back when I was a kid, I use to grow up watching alot of Surfing movies, old Elvis movies, and absolutely loved Fantasy Island, Giligan's Island, Sinbad and the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea type of shows.

I also wanted to go eco-friendly with this design and say that if we pre-love our environment, we'll be more aware and cautious of what we do to our surroundings. Our planet is beautiful..we should care for it.

So please feel free to critique my design and presentation. This is my first sub so i'm very excited

I got nothing for ya man, I think it's really well done and I am really enjoying the illustration and idea. Diggin how it looks on the blue shirt too. My only recommendation would be to maybe tighten up the lines a bit, there is so much going on and it's all so nicely done, it just feels like the lines should be a bit smoother. Mostly on the clouds and moon.

I'm interested in seeing how this progresses. Good luck.

Hmm...i see what you mean. I've actually revised this design like 5 times from my sketches. lol. But i'll be honest and say that, I haven't reworked the clouds and have been busy on the land instead and detailing those and keeping it all balanced. I'll give the clouds a shot. Thanks for the feedback

I agree with the previous poster about tightening up the clouds a bit - the look kinda odd against the precise landscape.

Other than that, I think that this design looks fantastic. I particularly like it against the light blue background. Well done!

Wow. This is beautiful. I agree with the others about tightening up the clouds, and you might try giving the clouds a lighter stroke color so they seem a little more ethereal. Could be interesting to maybe see it on different shirt colors too...although I dunno if it'll work as well on anything else. Great work though.

yap...sorry about taking a bit long on the clouds. I think i've worked out a solution and will post it up today. I've tried on a few of the other colors. I'll give a few more color choices to see what you ppl think. =D

Hmm...hope you guys can help me critique this again. I've changed the look on the clouds to make it alot more softer and ethereal and bring the it in line with the rest of the composition. I actually also brighten up the entire design in Illustrator.

Also added a pink option..but i'm not sure whether its working lol. Trying to sell it for the ladies. =D

i love it! there is only one thing that is catching my eye, the cactuses on the hill really stand out too much, maybe if the outline was like a light blue or something, other then that i think its awesome!

Mucho better.

Change the cactus outline to something darker so it doesn't jump out too much. Added a bit more clouds in between the tiny mountains to balance the whole composition and to hopefully lead your eyes in a zig zag motion towards the foreground. =D

A big thank you to everyone who have been giving me feedback. Its been very helpful and constructive. This is my new version. Just wondering about placement at the moment...and would like to try and sell this to the ladies as well.

I've tried a few variations for women, but the black tee seems to work the best for some reason. Makes it look like a rock tshirt kinda thing and big graphic tee style which is in vogue at the moment.

Let me know what you guys think about placement. Thanks in advance.

It's a really cool background scene, not sure if it stands up on it's own as a concept to front a tshirt though.

I think the concept would really hit home if the whole scene was placed in a Petri dish. You've got a natural eye line angle downwards so should be easy to implement if you wanted.

and also please comment on the black tshirt. Would any girls get the black tshirt version?

I like the placement on the white shirt and to be honest, it works well on both colors. Personally I don't care for white shirts so would prob. go with the black. Also, the black has kind of an eery feel to it. The only thing I would suggest is that on the black shirt maybe you could gradually fade out the waves or add some in darker blues. Not sure.

i think this is wonderful! i agree that it does seem more like a "background" image, but ithink it is strong enough to stand on its own on a shirt....and i would wear black!

I think grey, white, and black are definitely the best colors for the design. As for the placement, I think the male/smaller-version looks great, but am not quite so sure about the expanded women's one.

@dversdzn: I've tried fading out the waves before but unfortunately, on my 8 color choices, it doesn't really work. Not enough dynamic range unless i use half toning. I'll give it a whirl tho.

@Comfortador: Yeah...i think i'll be dropping the oversize version for the ladies. I"ll stay with the male's version.

Seems like black is quite good. I'm wondering whether we're allowed to apply 2 versions, one on darker tees and one on lighter tees? I had to invert the ripples to make it work on dark colored tees. Anybody with experience can maybe answer this question?

Awesome. Although I don't feel the eye is out of place like dversdzn does, I do think you could bring out the microscope concept a bit more. I had to read your description to understand what was going on here. If that minor detail is fixed, I would definitely buy this shirt.

Amazing illustration.

I really like this alot! I thought the other version I commented on was good to go, but the "eye" adds a whole new dimension. To me it gives a more mystical feel, but in the end adds a coolness to it. If you feel like pursueing the microscope concept with it, go for it, but for me overall the illustration and composition is so good you could leave it as is.

Alright cool. Thanks for the tips. Was going for the simple abstract look. Didn't mind that the eye was out of place. Actually kinda adds to the detachment and the contrast between living the world and looking at it from another place. Dversdzn comment actually kinda reinforced what i was going after which is great!

Ok i've taken into account your comments people and this is what i've come up with. Took out the elipses and made it alot more clearer that the eye is looking through a microscope into this world.

Also added 2 beings in the design to further contrast between this world and the world of the person looking through the scope. Let me know what you people think.

I think after a few final touches, i'm ready to submit this in. Any feedback or comments are greatly appreciated and I am happy to receive them.

O man this is gorgeous! The ring around the eye at the top is amazingly done, even though I didn't catch on to the microscope thing very well lol. The only things I could suggest would be to do something about the water.. it looks kind of odd, but I'm not sure how you could make it more water-like.. and I think the darkest mountain with the snowcap's outline shouldn't be white, and neither should the mountain to the left of it. Maybe make it a shade of blue like the other mountains?

It looks really nice. i can't think in anything to improve. I like it how it's now. Very well done.

it's great but i dont like so muck the cloud under the eye. the shades of the persons are a little bit mm "rough" (?). the bottom is beautiful. somes lines seems to be too much "extra-fine" (the right cliff).
but i repeat, amazing shirt :)

I'll recheck on the extra-fine lines again. I haven't really gone through every element yet for refinement before submission. I guess now is a better time than later.

Shades of the person rough? Really? hehe. Wanted to simplify the persons a little more because of its size didn't want it to have too much details. but i'll repost a magnified version of them and see what you think.

dude this image is so sick, i love it!, although i do still prefer V4, printed on white, id buy v4 in a heartbeat but probably not this, idk..i feel as though its just been stared at and worked at for too long like it reached the point of perfection but now its gone further and passed it and is headed in the other direction, but people seem to like it, so maybe im just flat out wrong, i know my tastes generally vary from the general public so idk , but again i still love this image!

just when I thought it couldn't get any better, this is absolutely spectacular. the waves came out fantastic. Still not a huge fan of the "all seeing eye" but this final version works really well so...
