Ah! Now that is looking better! Have you thought about what sort of background details you are going to add? It all looks a bit - floating in space - at the moment. But - yes - a vast improvement. Good work!

Agree with udolpho. Maybe some halftone shadow under everything to make it look grounded.



I would make it about 75% scale and move it up a little.



And although you'll need simulated process to get your colours, I think you should reduce your pallette. I don't feel like this colour set if very harmonious at the moment, so if you remove e.g. all the blues and reds. Keep the greens, yellows, oranges etc. i.e. don't remove the blue and red channels, just the colours.



I also think that a darker shadow (almost black) on the tank, under the robot, would work well to bring the robot out and separate it from the tank. The bum and heels get a bit confused with the linework on the tank.

This is looking really good! My only thig would be to make the colors ore drab... but that's kind of just an opinion. This is pretty sweet. I really like the color for the peace sign - maybe make the droid closer to that? And yeah, def put it on a real shirt.

I agree with the halftone shadow, but I like it the size it is. And I, for one, LOVE the colors. And I'm going to second Carixpig on the darker shadow on the tank. I also like the tank in the bg.

These are great comments, everyone; appreciate the enthusiasm. In defense of the yellow; it's your typical earth mover paint scheme so unless the crowd believes I'm hurting my chances using it I plan to stay with it.



Shadows are a good idea. It's something I have a habit of overlooking. The tank in the background is my tip-of-the-hat to the odd-number gods: two tanks and one droid, so it'll stay.



As for a background; that makes me nervous because things are pretty busy now! Perhaps adding a base shadow will link it better to the shirt without the clutter of some kind of background color?



Hope I'm not coming across as too stubborn with my response, I certainly don't intend to.



Susan, I can try to de-saturate the yellow-cab color a bit and see if it works. Perhaps a v2 will have that and we can compare both schemes.



Since I cannot work on it until tonight there's time for more thoughts.

You know, I don't think it would need anything in the background if it were on a real tee. I think it's just because we're seeing it on the flat t-shirt model that it looks bare.



I agree with desaturating the yellow a bit. Keep the yellow, but if it were a little starker it would have more of a wartime type feel too it.

I love it! Looks sooooo much better water colored. And I like it best on the off white.

This version looks great. I say submit it. The only thing that I would say is that I could do without the music notes. But whether you try a version without or not, I say it's about ready to go.

Hey Rick ~ Awesome. I like the contrast of the darker shirt it might be odd that it's kind of army green in that it's a peace shirt. Looks great in watercolor! I know most might not agree but, I'd lose the bird — I think the peace is enough. Remember it's subjective.

I suppose the bird was an attempt to add one living thing into the scene. Thinking back, the bird came before I added the peace sign, so maybe you're onto something there.

I say lose the notes and the blinky lines. I like the colors now - it's like C3PO and the Tin Man had a child who then took steroids. SO Awesome. I don't mind the bird, it's a nice detail, but it could go either way.



I'm still not a fan of the shirt colors either. Heather grey? Grey? I like grey? The tan is kind of cool though.

The shadow under the arse looks better, but yeah, the shadow under everything needs some work. I think the shadow needs to follow the ground. Imagine a grid on the ground, then imagine shading with your pencil parallel to the North-South grid lines. Now take that idea and make it watercolour.



What about a yellow shirt? The robot should be fine with it's black linework.

Here's my third version; main shirt color changed to heather gray. Kept the tan because I'm leaning towards that. Cross-hatch shadows instead of Photoshop tones below the tank/droid - like it much better as it no longer looks like the after-thought it was in version two. Feedback?

I really love this version, except that you get rid of the dove and I think that you should put it back in!!



I don't think that the bluelight line works.

I would have put the thicker part of it on the left side.

Apart from that, you can submit it.

Wow! Great detail! I really like this. It seems like you lowered the saturation from the original image- it looks a lot better now. As a small change, I think it would still work without the extra tank in the background.

The bird still exists in the Photoshop file (all I did was paint it out on the layer mask). I like it either way so I'm going to need a little help here making up my mind.



donlope01 - if you happen to check back, I'm not sure what you were referring to when you mentioned bluelight line, can you clarify?



I'm hoping to get this wrapped up and submitted by Saturday. Question for the veteran submitters: Since voting runs seven days will I be better off waiting until Monday to submit?



Now I'm getting back to reworking my ape-man design - got some ideas and some preliminary set-up work already finished.

I don't know about the Flash. When I was rating submissions this morning I found myself becoming irritated if I had to wait for Flash to load - and I'm a Flash fan!



. . .and yeah, the dove makes a return for sure, the droid looks lost without his birdee.

Here's my final version for critique.



The dove has returned and the art is about 20% smaller on the shirt. I did this because I did not want the illustration to be so darn big that it overwhelms the wearer.

Looks great. One thing before subbing - perhaps "do the rounds" on some alumni critiques and blogs and get yourself promoting this design. It's so good, it will really hurt if it bombs in scoring, especially if no-one knows about it.....
