Hey guys, I'm new on here, so please pass on your wisdom... I've had this design a year or so, but I just redrew it to fit that 8 color limit... any ideas for improvement, or is it ready to submit? Thanks!

I don't think you need the three dots at the end of your phrase

You don't need to fill the whole front of the shirt with your design, I think you should at least make the type smaller, and you could even make the drawing a little smaller as well, but definitely the type.

personally Im not too sure about the faces on the sunflowers, and the text needs a different font but otherwise i like the concept.

As far as faces go, I guess I was going for more of a childish design with sort of a dirty message. Would getting rid of the faces sort of defeat that purpose?

I'd try to make it a bit cleaner. The illustration, that is. It looks messy, and MS paint-ish. If you can, I'd design your own text. And make it smaller. Like, chest size. Try putting the tex underneath, as a caption. And get rid of the elipsis.

Thanks for the comment!

I like the concept, I do agree that the execution could be better, and that the text should be changed. Maybe it can be words made out of dirt?

Hello!

Simple tip. If you need text to explain the design then the design isn't really working. If you flick through some of winning designs you'll see very few use text at all.

The trick is how you are going to illustrate "It's all fun and games until someone gets pollinated..." without having to spell it out. If you take out the text in your picture it looks like this:

There is a happy flower and a sad one. The sad one has a bird on him. Some bees are in between. Now I think bees pollinate flowers don't they? They are flying away from the happy flower. So it is the happy flower that has been pollinated right? The sad one hasn't. Birds don't pollinate flowers. So if you look at your image that way what you are actually saying is "It's all fun and games WHEN someone gets pollinated"

Which is the opposite to what you mean to say according to the text. Confuses me see? :) What I'd do is go away and try to clarify what you are saying with the image. Put it back up with no text. If people understand it then - then you can start looking at the way you have illustrated it. But the first thing is you have to make sure that the message the image is giving out is clear.

Hope this helps!

Thank you very much for your help so far (esp udolpho). I'm going to rework it with the bees flying the other way, and I think I'm going to have the bird crap on the flower just to emphasize how crappy it is. The design will be smaller, and I'm putting the text underneath in a brown, earthy font without the elipses... we'll see how version 2 comes out...

from my experience... threadless doesn't like text... they say it and mean it. so if you have to have it... make it integrated more. don't know how though.

i like the idea but it's real messy now and could be good if you clean it up... the winning ones are incredibly clean if you look.

but nice.
