Inspired by some clouds I saw the other day - and my new-found love of elephants. What do you think?

Awesome. Love the Chi-town skyline, too. Great design.

The spaces in between the elephants' legs should be clear I guess, but other than that, looks ready, and cool!



But I do look down on you for not always having loved elephants :P

thanks for the comment on my design. This is really cute. Id actually say submit this as it is.

Can't decide if I should add a little more detail on the buildings...or what to add if I did. Suggestions?

Some more detail is worth trying, you could always come back to the simpler version. But I have to say I wouldn't directly know what kind of detail, but no loads of windows at least.



Maybe a few windows in eye-places so the city gets more of a personality?

Wow! It's pretty much great as it is :)



Only one bit I might nit pick at is between the two lower towers.. it looks like the cloud is trying to squeeze through. Kind of looks off because the clouds are behind every where else.

Yeah - I'll give it a shot. i guess it isn't like I can't just revert back! I'm so used to pen and ink that I forget that....

hmm. i like it. im trying to figure out if anything else is needed. people have pointed out a lot of tiny errors. i think thats what you need to look for. is just fixing all the tiny errors floating around in there. good design though!

Playing around with the slightest bit of more detail would be great but the only thing i have to suggest is to see what it would look like with the other side of the rain coming in front of the elephants and clouds . I think it is making the eye stop at the elephant instead of taking in the whole image.

or try taking off the cutoff side of the spirt.

nice illustration. I think once you've fixed all the little bits people have mentioned you're nearly there. Add some windows, perhaps some little people with umbrellas.

The actual presentation, if you leave it like this, needs a bit of tidying up. Maybe have the background gray go all the way up and not split into two grays with the white line. And the arrow head is a bit wonky.

I really like this, cute idea... I'd agree with the above comments, definitely give a little more detail on the buildings a shot, just to see what you come up with, but if you come back to the simpler version, I have no porblems with that! I really like Dexter's idea of adding some little people with umbrellas... but am not sure you can pull that off at this scale... could be awesome though.

maybe try and add some more random box windows on the buildings to help give it a more worked out feel.



think about maybe an elephant shaped into a circle and make him the sun...seeing how this doesnt look like a dark rain day.



i liked how you used cross hatching to show the clouds some depth maybe do like 2/3 buildings with a LIGHT cross hatching to them to help so depth as well.

lovely design just make it bigger on the shirt and submit!

What if the clouds were elephant shaped so the elephants are more represented as part of the sky?

Susan, this is close! I agree with most of the tips above, though not the lots of windows ones - simple is better! One thing everyone else has missed is the lack of the John Hancock building! Gotta have it. Figure out which way you are looking at the city and put it in the right direction (north of the Sears Tower). It's distinctive shape will add visual variety to the skyline in a simple way.



Also, try one without the elephant tails, not sure you need them.



Cool stuff, kiddo, can't wait to see more as well as spotting someone on the sidewalk wearing one.

What's funny is, the original didn't have tails...and then I added them. Classic over thinking..... Thanks Pop!

I like the rain falling on the elephants, and I don't agree that you should have it falling in front of them there. And besides the cloud squeezing through the towers and the color between the elephants' legs, I think it's awesome. :D

I like it without the tails. It seems cleaner.

i like it. but i dont like the bottom where it seems to just cut off.

it's fun, but like agrimony, i think there is something wrong when you put it on the shirt...perhaps you could put the city on the bottom of the tee, and extand it in height to fill the whole tee? but you'll have to rethink a bit your design...

I love the cleared up space between the elephant legs. I don't like the idea of stretching it to cover the entire tee. I like the centeredness on the chest area. I think the cut off makes it look clean, and I'd leave it that way.



Also- I miss the elephant tails.

i mean, the omst impotrant is your own perception and satisfaction, people give suggestion they think could work, but of course, they could be absolutly wrong, or not in the same point of view/taste ;)

@Jebs =) Thanks - Yeah that's a good point. It's funny that people tend to go one way or the other on the tails and the size/bottome line. But you're kinda right about the size- shirts with a bigger print are much more uniquie

Very cute idea! I actually like how it's cut straight at the bottom of the design, and I'm not usually a big fan of hand drawn styles but here it works well.



I can't think of anything to add or subtract, though you could try adding more shades of those colors just to see how it looks.



I would also double check how the design lays out on a woman's chest, since sometimes elements in that area of the shirt can come out unintentionally overly pronounced. That sentence was full of delicate phrasing, but it might work better having both of them in closer spraying outward.



Anyways, very nice design, and as it is I'd probably get it a 4.

I like it. It's been mentioned before, but the flat bottom looks a little off for some reason.

I think the drops should have a drop shape, instead os just small lines. And some color and details to the city would work too...

@ Tranquillo - I did think about that.... and groaned because I'm out of printer paper and don't want to make them in illustrator...

The right furthermost blue bubbles behind the city don't appear to have the same shape as the ones on the left, kind of squished together and the egg-shaped one on the end lacks the line shading of the others. Also I noticed that the clouds and bubbles have decorative lines which echo the rain lines very nicely but the buildings have none. Maybe try some lines on the buildings because what I think is so charming about the illo is the line style. That would also add more detail, texture and variety to the design making it that much more richer. Make sure to add a onesie when you sub to expand on the offering and get an ("Ahhh!) out of the viewers :P Cheers!

Hey Susan! looks great! but I feel that the top of the shirt is a little empty now, try placing the elephants upward, and I still would do the drops like I said before...hmmm...maybe just some drops with the small lines representing the path they are doing.

After much ado trying to make the left-had side less empty, ( A flying elephant, a moon, clouds, sun, plane...) I've discovered that it looks completely weird with something up there. Thus, I shall leave it asymmetrical.



The airplane was so cool that I might use it for something else though...

I shifted it down because the bottom line was a little awkward, and it allowed me to make the whole design bigger. Sets it apart form the rest a little too....

I definitely like it better shifted down. I like when shirts have a design at the bottom that extends up onto the rest of the shirt. It's unique and different. (:
