they're floating? lol my last design has a jetpack cat thats sorta how I got the idea, I thought it be funny if theyre sorta pedaling floating through space chasing each other

Theres a design like this floating around critiques already just so you know. Its not in space or anything, but its a cat eyeing off a mouse who is eyeing off a cheese, called "a cat, a mouse and mmh cheese" or something along those lines. I think your idea has more complexity but you should check it out first.

I think the cat looks just a LITTLE bit too crazy-faced, the other two animals have kind of cute expressions, maybe you should tone down the crazy for the cat. ;)

Hey just following up with that similar one its at cat mouse and mmh cheese but i think yours is sufficiently different for it not to be a problem. Maybe get some ideas from the feedback given on theirs tho. Coming along well so far!

As always you'll deliver on the artwork, but there's something about the position or size of the dog that isn't feeling spot on. I think he should be slightly smaller and set higher up, but only fractionally.

yeah I agree with Garo. I'd have the center of the dog (his body, right around that strap-looking area) be where that dot is right above his head. That would make the whole chase scene flow better.

I guess that's a jetpack. Hehe. But yeah I'd make the center of the jetpack be where the dot is.

the dog looks so playful but the cat looks evil!

Just a thought - it might look more badass if you have the mouse as the only thing that looks cute, then have the dog and the cat looking evil? No worries if you've already altered it though.

once this is put into illustration it should look really funny. the cat and dog are a little too close together though. its possible the dog could look a little more fierce too. since the cat is. and the mouse is nicely done with its innocence.

Yeah, I think the dog should look more savage, too. The only one who should look more hopeful than aggressive is the mouse, in my opinion. Also, I think it'd make a great kids tee!

the initial idea : dog wants to chew up cat and play with him, evil cat is gonna eat mouse, mouse is just happy he found cheese in outer space, so thats the reason of the faces and expressions :)

I generally like the expressions you have. I think it works better as long as it's "tongue-in-cheek-evil" if that makes sense. I think most dogs that chase cats are in it for fun instead of pure viciousness... just my opinion though. I also think that the dog's size relevant to the cat should be noticeably larger. (Right now it's comparative size to the cat is pretty good, but I think if the dog were any smaller it'd take away from his ability to even intimidate the cat). Sorry I'm feeling analytical. Basically do whatever you were going to do because you haven't disappointed me yet with any of your other stuff, ha ha! :)

cool yeah you make sense kashlen :) Imma ink them first by hand then when I scan them maybe make him a lil bit larger and move him up a bit.

Man, you never stop churning! Great concept and I'm sure you're skills will take it to the nth level. A thought would be to make the cheese orbed shaped with swiss cheese craters, or maybe a cheese puff, I know you're into snacks. Yum!

Very nice idea! This sketch is pretty good, and if done right this could totally be a 5-buy vote. I'd keep it colorful and pretty detailed yet still vector and cartoony. I can't think of any problems or additions, so hopefully the final design comes out well!

YESSSSSSSSS Perfect. The dog has the perfect oblivious look, and the cat has the manipulative, clever look, and the mouse looks totally innocent.

here is the color version so far, Im thinking Imma add some planets and stars etc still, and maybe mess around with the colors a bit as well, so far it's 8 colors

I'd try to make the color of the dog / mouse and the color of the smoke more...polarizing. Maybe make the dog and mouse slightly lighter and the smoke slightly darker.

I personally like the color scheme a lot; red + black + other colors always looks good to me. However, I do think the red stars/space is kind of weird - space doesn't really look like that and it looks ... a little bit like blood stains or something, I don't know. I feel like the background should have more variety or shades, just so it doesn't look like a big red splotch.



I dunno, I'm torn! Cause I really like how the red pairs up with the other colors you used, but I just don't think the red space looks right.



Love the characters overall though, I think they're well colored and you didnt go overboard with the highlights (hehe), everything looks super good to me. :)

Very nice. I like this a lot. I think the helmets are getting lost in the background though. At first glance, it looks like they're just wearing collars. Maybe you could make the stroke white or yellow or gray instead of black, so that it pops off the background a little more. I also don't know how I feel about being able to see through the smoke on the dog and the cat. Your smoke clouds look really solid and substantial, and then they're just randomly...not. I get what you're going for, but I'm not sure if it works. Anyway, great characters, great idea. Looking forward to the next version.

a suggestion: i think the sphere shape (especillay the dog one) is not clearly easy to see, maybe adding some subtle/slight brightness light on it could help...?

Agree with nasmo, the helmets are not showing up as much as they should. If you're going for planets and stars, try to be very subtle, in a way they don't steal atention from the characters that looks great!

i wish the cat wasnt so yellow...i know youre working with a limited amount of colors so that might be hard to work around...maybe a white cat with yellow stripes or vise versa? that might be too much of a contrast against the blue though....oh i dont know!

Looks like it's turning out great! I like the color scheme, but before I even read anything I was thinking about if it was on Navy...but I guess black really makes more sense for outer space, huh? And I think the cheese should stay how it is...

Maybe I'm just missing something, but the smoke under the cat's tail looks a little funny; almost like you forgot to erase the smoke line.

I don't know if i'm the first to say it, but the smoke on the dog kind of looks like it's coming from its butt.



And i think the dog should be a little lighter, maybe a tan or beige color, to contrast with the mouse and pop out of the shirt more, like the cat does.



And I think the cat's eyes should be a different color than its fur. maybe green?

I think Ill change the cat eyes to match the dogs and mouse, but I wont be adding more colors since Im already at 8, Ill try some stuff out tonight to try and fix the color problems that it has right now tho, thanx!

WAKO - I just mock it up in photoshop, then create the rest in flash, with masking effects, really not that hard if you know your way around flash

just noticed another thing you may want to change; the smoke coming out of the dog's jetpack.. follow it to his rear.



The smoke should be overlapping the dog, so you shouldn't see the outline of him.



I'd also make the smoke (that is on the dog) a little rounder, it's kinda flat.

great job! i also agree on the colour of the cat's eyes, a green would be nice

about the dog's smoke, maybe add some volume and move it a bit to the side so it doesn't look like it's coming from its behind

Looks great love the new blue you used. Can you make the smoke any more "transparent" or wispy looking? It looks very solid right now, like that hard grey - they all look like they have extra tails from a distance.

For a second I thought the dog had two tails (albeit one was really messed up). It's really nice though, I love the slight reflections you put on the glass.

i love the fact you drew the helmets with white color, it's really a nice add.

i like the background which is now real universe/space atmosphere , and let the eyes focuse more on the characters (but i loved this "hemoglobine/blood" spirit you've made initially too)



about the smoke, i loved it, not sure about the new version...except one thing: now the sensation of catch, speed is more obvious, more dynamic...but at the same time, we are in space, so i liked the suspension of the characters with the nearly solid smoke.



anyway that will be a 5$ without a doubt!

Awesome. IF you're interested in one more minor change - might each animal be looking toward the one they are chasing, rather than into an unclear direction? This may make the shape of the chase more coherent, especially now that you've lost the smoke trails. I do like the line trails much better though.
