Just draw your artwork and scan it in. Then in photoshop use the magic wand to highlight the area you want and then use the paint bucket that should help, Just make sure everywhere that needs to be a end point. make sure your pen or pencils lines complete the section

To get a handle on the threadless thing I'd recommend going through the catalogue to see what they print. They don't generally print stuff that doesn't have an implied story/joke behind it, from what I've seen. I think that your art has potential, don't give up!

I wouldn't recommend the magic wand tool, actually. Scan your image into photoshop, and copy and paste your design into a new layer so it's not "background." Delete "background," then switch the image mode to "multiply." Make a layer underneath your image and color there.

I can't give you any technical advice about how to use the computer programs to make it better but there are a couple of things:

I think this better than your coat of arms submissions, you seem to be improving. If this was submitted though I'd probably be arsey and score it zero on the grounds of the misspelling of Scottish, if you're going to take something from other people's culture at least spell it correctly.

On those grounds I'd also like him facing the left like the one on the standard but maybe you chose him facing right to give it some individuality.

I'd also get rid of the white in the mouth and have the background showing through as currently it looks like he has a big set of teeth. I'd also maybe add the tongue too but again you may have also left that out to make it more of an individual style rather than copied straight from the standard.

Keep at it though and I'm sure with some practice you'll start to get the hang of the computer graphics programs and be able to improve your drawings even more.
