Just an idea that came in mind this afternoon...what do you think...?

to be honest, i don't really know if i can do something with this idea...that's why i try to see reactions at the critique :)

I like the addition of texture. And I really like how you've done the text. In case you do decide to pursue this: It looks, to me, like a spinning vinyl record -- so maybe the addition of the record player arm and needle. I dunno...it could be the "exclamation point" on your message. Lol. :-) Just throwin' stuff out there.

@starlight: thanks, it was just a first draft, something not worked on...thanks for the ideas, i am not sure needle and arm would be a nice add, because it would distract from the radioactivity symbol...i will perhaps write the stuff on the inner groove...

ypu are right for the musical with bird notes :)

there's also hands, sometimes illusions/transforming into bords...something metamorphozing.



keeping the radioactivity text seems useless obviously...but the symbol...dunno?

for example: what do you mean distress? (lol i've checked on dictionnary, and don't understand)

o haha, well thats just a word i picked up after reading through tutorials haha. what i meant is the textures you used from v1 to v2, you could put them on those birds as well to make the style the same. right now your birds/music seems much too "clean" as compared to the circle.



you can google distressed textures and see the image results. :)

Very nice!. I would like to see a tiny bit of white leading us from the speaker/symbol to the dove. (A little white on the swan, white notes that the bird is singing, that sort of thing.)

Depending on the placement, I might prefer the speaker/symbol to be smaller and the music/love a little larger.

putting some touches of white is a good suggestion. To be honest, i improvise a lot on this design, if you look at the evolution of the afternoon. So, i don't know right now the placement/size in tee, we'll see ^^

Sorry I missed seeing it was vinyl. I even own a few, but I have nothing to play them on. I'm only keeping the few because I couldn't find them in CD and I'll have them transferred. Someday.

You could really do color like crazy if you made this a CD. They glow.But even that is getting to be old technology. Speakers are still around, however.

Wherever the music comes from, your design has merit.

On the shirt, this looks a lot like a target. Also the dove is high enough on the shoulder that long hair (or a purse or backpack strap) would cover it.

If the record was smaller and the objects bigger ...

@francesca: i love the sound vinyl produce, i also of course listen a lot to cd's too, but overall, what is important is not the player, but the music itself :)



on tee shirt: about the target look-like, i understand that it's about the color of the tee, that emphases the spot center of the record (orange here).

About the placement, i like the fact that the design goes toward the shoulder, but i still can level down the whole design on the tee template. About the proportions, i prefer that the record has consistancy in size at the center of the tee shirt. If the placement was on the bottom of the tee, i would have given more importance to the objects...



at the beginning, i wanted something minimalist (i love minimalism for tee shirts) in shapes & colors. I still have it, but i don't know what direction right now i'll take to improve the design

Changed the colors: addes a few vivid colors, and in consequence, put the classic white bg.

so i went back with the V6 version, which i prefer a day after , and reading at your comments too.

I changed a little the background as it will be on Orange (i have the clockwork threadless tee and this orange is excellent). I added the green leaves to make a subtle vivid touch.

A new version with a real transition between the record and the spread elements. i Think its really better.

this piece has really evolved. i love the white song bird on the upper shoulder it has a nice flow.

amazing. i usually dont like images that are dead center but it works well for this piece, especially with the images that trail off to the right. love that white bird too! sub!

@ azarello: i think that the palm hands are patrt of the design, i can't remove them, that's a symbol of sharing/mixing/spreading music ;)



about the design on tee, it's quite simple, but i am french, i don't know on photoshop the terms in english.

To simplify: you have yo play with the "mode" of layers, and with "layer mask". You import your design from illustrator to photoshop first and then work. Of course, there's a lot of techniques, you should look tutorials on internet too.

and about kraftwerk, i must say i don't know well how great they were, i've always said i have to buy some of their albums soon or later (shame on me!)

Wow, a design with sillouhete birds that I actually like!

The distressed look on the record is a nice touch.



The only thing I'd really change are those yellow leafs on the end of the branch. They don't show up well and being the only yellow it's sort of a sore thumb mentality. I think the white or just continuing in black would look nice.

Great, love the concept and the illo. I agree with your comment that the palms are symbols of sharing/spreading but if you put one palm against/near another at an angle instead of single palms, it might help better convey releasing/freeing/sharing of the birds and music. Maybe I'm not saying that right, see link below for visual reference. Cheers!

The hands are also an optical illusion, to be associated with both notes and birds, but i guess, at the beginning of the flow, i could see those open hands a bit like you show me on the link. I'll look forward to see how to improve that part :)

Just added a few hybrids like hand-leaf on the branch; bird-hands...

Put the baseline on the record and not on the bottom. and fixed a few details.



i tried the solutions people told me, and it didn't work out. (quister for example, with the hands in position of share)

about the leaves, you mean the fact i put them green is not useful? you don't recognize them? i tried in white, it doesn't work, and in black, it's discrete, but i liked this subtle touch of green...

In v11:

i managed to incorporate quisters idea of open hands sharing/freeing/releasing birds/music and hybrid stuff :)

i also extended this flow to give more dynamism/movement and lightness.

yeah i quite like those hands.. what i meant about the leaves is that the green appears more.. yellowish, maybe becuse of the orange background. a darker green perhaps? i was going to suggest white, but i saw that u tried it already heh.

Really cool! Just a heads up though, threadless doesn't usually go for an extra color (expense) that is not necessary to the design. So, I'd say submit it the way you want but if it goes to print, they will probably not do the green. No big deal, the design rocks without it. Cheers!
