Forget ninjas or pirates, samurai are the creme de la cool. The only thing cooler being Star Wars. Hence, the above.

I love it... the colors are great. I'd totally buy it for my husband as-is!

I don't think it needs more detail, but it does need more detailed work. The shapes and linework are awkward and inconsistent.

I agree with above ^^^. You don't need more detail you just need to make the details you have more detailed. Also the hand holding the spear/javelin thing looks kind of just like a nub.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. It does need tidying up, especially the little armor plates on the upper arms. Also I notice I've outlined the helmet, I might remove that.

bingo...Also a lot of little things. The red thing on his head is uneven and too simplistic, the breastplate looks too flat, etc.

Sorry for being dense but what do you mean by charcoal edges? As in charcoal gray?

What really stands out to me right now is the horns on the helmet, it looks like like a flat image tacked on. But you probably knew they needed updating. Cool idea :)

The thing with those horns is that that's pretty much how they were - flat pieces of metal cut to that shape and fixed on - they weren't actual horns like a Viking helmet.

Ok, made the helmet outline light grey to make it more subtle (looks odd without it for some reason), added more shading, tidied up various bits and bobs.

That's because that's what it's based on. Vader is overused though.

i like what youve done so far but i feel like the details on the bottom make the top look sparse.

Symbol added. Think it works pretty well, breaks up that big expanse of white armor.

I think its a very very well done design and totally unique in the whole star wars parody genre..... but im a little bored of star wars parodys personally. Sub away. Ill give you a good mark but just not the $.

I was thinking- you have some good depth on the chest with that dark grey, but the helmet looks a little flatter. Would it work to do some dark grey shading on the head?

I like this concept, but i'd probably even like it more if it was drawn in the old school Eastern tapestry style. But that would be a whole other redo of the design. Maybe one more concept to push it over the edge....something in the bakground? hmmmmmm....

I like The Ending's suggestion of a mon flag on his back, though I don't know if my skills are up to it.



I kind of like the simplicity of no background; I might play around with some Japanese text.

Ok, a bit of text in the background - katakana on the left, hiragana on the right. There would still only be one on the shirt, obviously.

I think if you have Japanese characters on this sub, they should be on a monflag on his back, as previously suggested. Also I think the design is WAY too big on the shirt. Good work though!

personally, i like v3 the best - no Japanese characters. I'd give v3 a 5 and buy if you submitted it :)

problem 1: threadless is never going to print anything that might get them into a legal fight. why? there are a dozen designs with completely original art out there, so why bother taking any chances?



problem 2: the art is okay, but okay's not going to do it as a tee design. the concept is one trick pony, so to get anyone to want to wear it, they'd have to love the art, and this isn't there yet. it's getting there, tho.

there are designs that get close, but for tless to take the chance, it's gotta be for a killer design. i'm not hot about the idea here because tho it's kinda funny, it's not one of those 'ya gotta see this' type designs. the only way i can think to make it like that is to have exceptional art....if this were done in a detailed japanese woodblock style with more interesting colors than white, black, blue and red. you'd have something. i guess what i'm getting at is i don't thing the idea isn't strong enough, so you need to change the focus to something else. take that for what it worth

Woodblock as in Ukiyo-e style? I'm afraid my skills aren't up to it. It is a good idea, and I appreciate your candour, but I have to work to my limits.



The choice of colors being predominantly white & black are there to make the whole thing recognisable as a pseudo-stormtrooper. Blue as the background just happened to be the first color I hit on.



And besides, if there's one thing this world has a lot of, it's Star Wars fans. You never know your luck.

I suppose grayehound is right to an extent. You might need to remove the Imperial insignia, or alter it slightly. See Lost A Wheel, for example; there is no bat-logo on it, but it's obviously the batmobile.



As for the design, I think the flag works but is too small, and the perspective on it looks funny. Also I would put less detail into the flag itself (I think the highlight on the flagpole is unnecessary) and put more work into the actual lettering.

the crotch plates appear incorrect and bug me.

They're correct...they hang from the belt and are pretty much rigid, so they don't fit the form much. Could be a slight perspective issue on the left one though.

i like it. i think this one is ready to sub. if they dont let you use the imperial symbol, try the generic breastplate with boobies (man boobies)

I like it. The only thing tha bothers me is the flag pole. Could you make it so it isn't just protruding from his shoulder?

Oh, and the chest is a bit bothersome. The rounded dotted line on it doesn't seem to curve in the right angle with the chestplate.

I want to keep it simple, I think a background would just be distracting. It's a good idea, but it's just packing too many Star Wars things into one thing. Less is more, is my philosophy =)

I own the rights to the image of the character. I allow people on the internet to use the image of the samurai storm trooper for free as long as they do not try to sell the character's image or products using the character. This website shows a t-shirt design with the samurai stormtrooper on it, and this is ok as long the t-shirts are not for sale , for example, if this image is to be downloded for free so that people may print shirts for themselves- as long as they know that thay may not sell the downloded image or products dervived from same image of the samurai storm trooper. At the moment the shirt isn't for sale; essentially this site lets people submit designs for voting, and if a design gets chosen, it gets printed and sold. However, I suspect that your post means that the design will not be chosen for print, unless an arrangement can be made, so there should be no problem.
