sweet, love it! great concept, can't wait to see it all inked up and coloured in!
i liked the idea of a house or seomthing, like maybe a roof top sticking out the the water, but then i wonder if that would take away from the numbers concept?? hhmmmmmm
anyway, great design, i'll be looking forward to the next version
great concept , id luv to see how it ends up...if you can change sum of the symbols perspeective... then i guess it wud add much to the current design... leave a score on mine
ok, it took a while to do this step. I was thinking of making it on a light-blue tee... so it will be the water. THIS IS OF COURSE AN INCOMPLETE VERSION, just to get more suggestions from you guys, about the colors and such stuff :) thanx

this is a standard placement, i think it's working in its simplicity. I'm working on it, trying to put some scratch and cracks to make it more devastated :)
I think you could put "The Aftermath" somewhere upon the tee... maybe cleverly. I was thinking that there should be a sinking, burning ship somewhere in the background. You could put the text S.S. Aftermath on it or something. Just an idea.
still doesnt look as devastated as id like it to be =p i was thinking more along the lines of those war scenes were the colours are all drab tones. =p I guess im seeing the symbols as being some sort of wreckage instead of just colourful floaty stuff in the ocean if you know what i mean. :)
and i veto the text. i think the design is pretty solid.. perhaps break some numbers/symbols apart?
I think the devastation is a matter of tone.... it doesn't need to be violent to make it's point -- I think we all 'got it' without any trouble.
Adding carnage would be a personal choice, and as a point of pitching it to the community for real consideration as a printed design, you might want to look through the catalog and mentally note designs that could have been made more violent or made less violent, but aren't, and see which way the wind blows....
I agree with bygrinstow too, i try another version with a different palette with a couple of broken symbols too. At the end i can choose the shiny one or the new one... just give me some time :) workdays start tomorrow and i'll be busy :( I just need to digest this illustration and find out something new to add/modify :) thanx again ppl
Very nice, I agree with broken symbols/numbers, maybe a number sticking vertically into the air? kind of bobbing like a ship before it sinks. I'd like to see a shark circling. also maybe light reflecting off the numbers.
new palette, now the characters pop up and you can see them at first sight. There is a shark too, and at the moment only one symbol si broken..just let me know :)
hehe, i'll submit this once i finish it. i have to break apart a couple of symbols and try other palettes. And yes, the thumb will be different. Thanx ppl (Where are all the designers btw?)
hehe... yes thats nice.. but now theres a new problem, the symbols are harder to recognise now cos of the low contrast between brown/black. not sure where to go with this heh..
Like I said above, I like your colors on the blue. But I like this monotone version on sand... sub them both as two options of the same design... why not?
damn, i like this one, but with these colors it seems a desert lol ... i'll try another palette and see if i find another nice solution :) thanx again folk!
It doesn't look like a desert! DROP THAT PALLET! DROP IT!
No seriously, I would by this right now. It only looks like desert for a tenth of a second, then you go, "Oh, water! This is awesome! Can I buy it now?"
haha lol, i try a sunset palette on a yellow tee. Now it looks like a swamp, and the shark in a swamp doesnt really fit :) If the sunset palette sucks, i go with this version :) thanx ppl!
yay! personal preference for sand :) but nice work, how did you do those details on the symbols btw? is it some filter in ps, or manually coloured in? cos it looks really nice.. i need to learn how to do stuff like that haha
it's a clipping mask on adobe illustrator. It's entirely made with adobe illustrator. The characters are hand-drawn, then vectorized (is this the right word?) and adjusted. Lot of work btw. The effect inside the symbol that looks like rust or similar is made in this way: 1.spraypaint in black a white canvas on photoshop (not the airbrush, just the spray). 2.adjust bright+contrast to get a crispy contrast between the black and white. 3:turn it into black and white color mode (monochrome). 4:selection box, then copy the selection. 5:go to adobe illustrator, paste it, and live trace it. 6: change colors as you wish. 7. use the clipping mask tool with a shape youand you will see how it works. Try to search for an online tutorial, it will be much more clear than me :)
yes! the final version is perfect, for me. It's hard to give a preference of background color because you did a pretty great job with 3 different "palettes"...maybe i prefer the number 1, which gives a little rusty/vintage look and cool atsmosphere in general. By the way, this time i don't have nothing to add, that's just really good, really clever, and ready to SUB! ;)
thank you ppl!! :) well, at the end the 3 palettes work pretty good. My fav one is the sunset palette :) let's see the feedbacks when it will be approved :)
