id like to see something besides the splatter

it doesnt fit with the style your using and i think its done too much in a lot of designs. try having the dogs back facing the viewer i didnt get it because i was focusing on the dogs face instead of his tail. it might make more sense that way.

snakes and snails and puppy dog tails! i like haha

i could see people wearing this shirt, but i gotta agree with the previous post that it might help to turn the dog around. also, the design might look a little better on more of a cream or tan colored shirt cause the white is a little harsh with the other colors...great idea though!

My sister said the same thing about the tail.



My idea with the splatter was mud because boys are dirty, lol. I'll see what I can come up with.

yeah i got that it was dirt and mud but id try it in a different way

maybe have dog prints on it and a snail trail. i dont know what to do with the snake.

I cant seee it. It shows up as blank to me....

The text behind is the actual poem, and yes, splatter is still there. I cant seem to want to get away from the mud thing. I couldnt work in the tracks and trails because of the angle of the snake, so I went with this basic lined shirt look. It felt like the look of a little boys shirt to me. I'm working on a backwards dog and toying with the idea of a pail of tails. What do you guys think?

Thanks forthe comments. hmm im still thinking theres still a harsh clash between the backdrop and the foreground elements. Perhaps if you changed the colour of the dog/snail/snake? Brown/blue combo isn't that good imo.

I think you need the little boy. You could have it as a diagram. Just a thought. I like the illustration!

If it were me, I'd have a huge outline of the boy on the front, with the snips, snails, and puppydog tails INSIDE it.



Kind of like those 50s instructional school videos on how the human body works, you know?

Just so you know, that dog is easily recognized as Brad Fitzpatrick's work, you just changed the expression a little bit.

i like ian_s and pigboatcaptains ideas. something that looks like an instructionaly diagram thats filled with all the elements.

otherwise, if you want to hang on to this style i would change the blue as atzh suggested.

i like the first version better than this one with the stripe. i'm a little biased on the colors too :P not really into teal and beige together.

aaaand to be honest i don't care much for the more cartoony shirts.

but i like your idea of what little boys are made of.

i always heard it as snips, instead of snakes. :P

Yeah. Brad Fitzpatrick's work. Please read the small print in the contract. Just because you can use someone else's art for some purposes does not mean that you can use it commercially presented as your own work. THAT'S copyright violation.

Just to clarify, I found a drawing of a dog on google images (it was a rough sketch). I liked it and made an ai illustration of it. I did not know it was brad fitzpatricks illustration; just figures it was a doodle. This just confirms the change in the dog.



I like the idea about the little boy outline. I'm thinking of a diagram like one you would see in an older donald duck cartoon. I will work on it.

it's generally not a good idea to use anything from google images in a Threadless design (unless it's from the public domain, and even then be cautious)

i googled "dog sketch" and the third image in line was really similar to your dog, and the image took me to www.bradfitzpatrick.com. so id be careful with that image and what you do with it

Yeah :/. I saved the image ok my phone and looking at it again, I see the water mark. It was so faint and gritty that I thought it was just part of the sketch. Apologies.



I think I will try the basket o' tails and incorporate the outline. I am posting this from my phone so I will return the favor as soon as I am back to my lappy. Thanks again everyone!

What I was thinking was 7th grade health class, with the chalk drawing of the little boy. I added the various body parts in because just the snake, snail and puppy dog tails were boring. I had lines on there coming off with text detailing the parts but it kind of cluttered the design. Also, what do you all think of placement? I started off-center in the lower right, but I almost like the full tee better.



Should there be some text on the tee? Thanks in advance for all of your comments.

i think if you went for more of a science book diagram rather then a chalkboard drawing it might work better

no i think full color would be good, maybe reference an old science diagram of the innards of a body, showing the muscle skeleton, nerves and all that, you know?

Just a quick change. Wanted to see what you guys think about a grey shirt, eliminating the chalk board theme.

hmm... the bucket o tails is pretty hard to make out unfortunately. if you still want to continue on this, perhaps you could put a mess of snails, snakes and tail and arrange them all into an image of a boy.



or if u want to abandon this.. its your call :p i saw your other design of the treasure map, looks great too. i usually suggest just working on 1 design at a time. at least that's what id do :)

I was kind of moving on, if you will, hence the other design :P I agree, though. Too hard to work on two ideas.

It might work better if the 3 items had consistent detail. It looks like there has been more work put into the snail than the other 2.

I like the idea but i think you're approaching it wrong. I think you could create more interest if you have the boy facing on the side, so it's detailed of his face and then have his body in a kind of tentacles composition of snails, slugs and puppy dog tails akin to Psychedelic Creatures

I think the size on the shirt is too big, and the pose is too static.
