It's very pretty :) I'd place it on one side rather than in the middle though.

Awesome design : ).

I played around with the idea of a side placement, but here's my problem: the original face picture that I worked on was cut off at the top of the forehead (the back picture is the complete design) so if I put the design lower, there's this awkward cut off line that I don't like, and it's very hard to fix because those geometric shapes and stuff make it very hard to clone stamp... I'm still trying to figure out how to solve this because I'm not sure I'm so hot on the placement either.

this is really neat I like the idea and compared to a lot of shirts that just try to throw something like this yours seems to work well

interesting..the presentation is a bit chaotic tho.

I know what you mean.

For one of my earlier designs, I tried making a GIF presentation that alternated between the design and the placement, but some people said it was distracting.

I could try it again and see if it works...

meanwhile, suggestions for placement?

i really appreciate all the feedback! :)

yeah... perhaps giving her hair is a way around your prblem?

i find this very interesting. placement seems difficult without the forehead being cut off. hope you figure it out. i like it.

It's looking good, maybe a bittoo busy.

I think it would be good if you could lower the design a bit so it doesn't end around the neck.

This design is very cool, I think the geometric lines are distracting though. I think it would present better if they were gone.

Good idea, just a bit top-heavy. The placement can be justified if you just balance top and bottom a bit.

i like those butterflies, but the face is a bit wild with those lines everywhere. I'd drop the lines and make the face more realistic, with the butterfly appearing almost like a mask.

"bump" is something you write on posts to bump them to the top of the pile again (to make your post/ design appear first in searches).

hmm. there seem to be a lot of complaints about the lines...

in case it's hard to see, the gray lines are fibonacci sequence diagrams. I added them for aesthetics but also to add to the theme of symmetry and balance.

I could try a version without them, but I feel like it would need something...

tanr, I see what you mean about how the smaller butterflies stand out too much. I could play around with opacity and saturation for the next version.

and to greenttentacle, first of all, thank you for enlightening me on "bump"s :)

and as for your suggestion about making the face more detailed, here's my response. I started out with a very detailed close up photograph of a face, but I didn't want it to be recognizable as any one person specifically, so I posterized it and kept it at 3 levels. I tried different levels, but either they were too detailed for my taste, or they added lighter gray blobs in the eyes which looked really creepy, so I decided to stay with 3. There are other ways I could approach this, and I will experiment. But I did want to keep the face kind of enigmatic and geometric.

I still don't know what to do about the placement issue, since not everyone seems so hot on the forehead going around the neckline...

And I'd like to try another presentation method, since this one, as HorsefaceDee pointed out, is a bit chaotic.

So i have my work cut out for me!

Once again, thanks for the suggestions!

i actually dont mind the cut of line, it just seems the face could be moved a little to the right to center a bit more. also try to hormonize each of component. the face lokes like a the big butterfly looks like a fading picture while the little butterflys look crisp and almost like cut outs. i looking forward to the finished product

interesting concept, but needs work to be a sub. i think too that the presentation has to be less chaotic IMO. i am not a big fan of a gigantic print like you suggest...

hm, I have to think of david bowie when I see this :) it's cool.

I'm also no fan of the forehead going around the neckline thing... It's more compicated to place (from the technician's view) and thus it can look unclean more easily.

maybe place it lower and make it a bit smaller?

and you have a lot of colours there. if you want it printed, i guess, you have to keep in mind that there is a restriction for the amount of colours

Maybe you could think about vectorising the face which would make it easier to manipulate and extend. I agree with Wolkenkind that you seem to have too many colours, although there are ways around that.

Just out of curiosity... How many colors did you use?

Btw- don't be discouraged by all the people who say you sholdn't submit this. It just needs a little more work. Great overall concept :)

It's a little frustrating to the eyes.. try and remove unneeded aspects.

I agree with all that is being said. The thing that is really bothering me is the jagged chin; it could use some cleaning-up.

Good luck.
