First lineart of a design done on my new tablet, still getting the hang of it.



Im thinking the one in the hat in green the rest in pink, any other thoughts, what to do, what tochange on the linework?

Use a purple shirt for the background.

Some of the eyes are a little strange. (The one in the middle looking left; the one on the top right.)

Other than that - it looks good so far.

My suggestions are Keep the shirt white or maybe cream and the colours kinda watercolour-ish and simple.

Very nice...my tablet was the BEST thing i ever bought!! I love it! This is really cool, i like the linework, don't think it needs to change, cant really think of colors for it apart from the ones you've mentioned, although I do like the idea of a washed sorta watercolor feel..

Rough up of the colours, thinking shading, or ill weaken the tones to more pastel and put it on a paler shirt, or ill do em in watercolours scan it and use them, ill proberly do all 3 over the week and then choose, any other input?

just finished colouring with brilliant gomedia splatters to give the effect, i like it, any thoughts?

I like where this is going. Like the splatters on the beaks of the flamingos, just think it needs a bit more contrast, specially on the neck parts, so that it creates a bit more of a texture, but otherwise it's looking good.

Im not doing it with a white flamingo, the contrast with the beak wont be strong enough, so i got it guys, more splatters, cool.

Im willing to defend that mine is different enough from the Topshop, design, its in a different style, its an all over print and it doesnt have any mention of top hats, so ill continue on with it.

Looks great, but perhaps still a bit flat. If you have some spare colours before you hit 8, maybe add some shadows where the necks overlap.

I like this. Mr Cyan Flamingo has a cool hat. All I can think of is a flamingo hat party, but thats for an entirely different t-shirt.

yeah, a little bit of depth where the shadows overlap would be good and maybe some of that dark grey on the hat as well.

otherwise i think it's a fantastic design, really unusual and eye-catching!

instead of adding more splats, try to add more shade, to get more dept in the overlapping necks.

is the most left red flamingo neck not too small? it looks a bit weird compared to the others.

Thanks guys, i wanted to make em all look a bit unique and warped, like we overplay humans and stuff, dunno just didnt want to be drawing the same flamingo 10 times.



and i did consider giving them all hats for a while

awesome artwork, the color of the t-shirt should be a shiny, not grey... oh well, this is a my opinion :) Try a yellow!!!

Agreed; some more shading would give the figures more definition. I'd also be interested to see the design on one of the basic templates instead of an actual t-shirt, because the way the shirt is rumpled makes it hard to tell what it would look like on a smooth surface. At first glance I wasn't sure if the bottom flamingo went all the way to the bottom edge of the shirt. I'm also going to make the suggestion one of my teachers would have definitely made, though I'm not sure you're going to want to go back into the actual line drawing: the top two flamingo beaks share an edge, which can be problematic. But not catastrophic, so I wouldn't sweat it too much. Nice job on the textures, though, and that hat's a really nice touch. I totally want a blue flamingo now.
