Usually, when we think of the word "milkshake", the first thing that comes to mind is the dessert drink. But here in my design, this is "milkshake" in another form.



I admit I screwed up in terms of the coloring and stuff, but not to worry, version 2 is coming up.



So here it is.

I'm not sure if I like how simple it is. It might be fun to have the cartons be more expressive.

Here it is, version 2. I cleared the spills and droplets and added some music notes and a radio, so the milkboxes'll be dancing, at least it's got some "action".



But, some people still prefer at least a bit of milk spilling/leaking at the sides of the milkboxes. Will reconsider about it.

I dig em, but you might want to move their legs under them more, so move lefty's legs left some and righty's legs to the right. Also, give that boombox another speaker :) blast that shit!

This is good but needs some more work i think....

The legs are too far forward on the cartons. The music notes are too busy: try and come up with a clearer and simpler way of visualising the music coming from the speakers. I would also give the milk cartons different faces: just change the expression slightly on one of them. The verticality of the cartons is kiling it slightly too. If they were a bit less upright then i think it could help their sense of movement.

Hope this helps. Keep going with it, its a good idea.

i noticed that the milk box is very 3D, but the legs looks like plain. Maybe you should try to add more volume to legs, to "stand better" the characters.



Also take a look at Blur's milk characters from the video clip:

Their legs are plane, but the profundity isn't so wide.

i like this idea, but i think u can do the outline a little bit rounded.

i think the color of the radio doesn't fit... try orange maybe?

Version 5. Shifted the placement of the legs, and played around with them as well. Also changed the arms and the facial expression of the pink milkbox.

This is a great idea! Please keep working on it. The black outline around everything doesn't quite work. Like on the milk drops and puddle. I like the new eye placement and the new notes.

Which black outlines do you want me to work on? Just the milkboxes? Or just the droplets and puddles? Or both?

Yeah! But I didn't mean the whole thing! Sorry I didn't get back to you in time. The milk cartons could still use the black outline. But I kind of like the white line for the inside folds of the cartons. Does that make sense?



Also, I like the wobbly lines. It gives it that little bit of extra shake.

hm alright, radio looks better, I suggest spreading the music notes out abit further. And lastly, the legs seem like they are coming out from the edge of the carton than from the bottom.



Perhaps change the outlines back to black as per v5. Keep it going :)

i think you def need some darker outlines. don't make them to dark black though, they look very harsh in previous versions.

how about placing the legs more to the back (in the middle of the bottom side), so it doesn't look they want to top over backwards.

I like it but maybe change the red color in the radio to something smoother (dark red) and a bit more details in the radio itself...

Here's a minor rework. I changed the color of the radio (which was originally red) to a slightly darker, more smoother red, fixed the speaker to make it look more like a speaker, and changed it's outline to black as well as I felt Black kind of matched with this "smoother red".



What do you guys think? Version 6 or this one suits your taste? Should I submit version 6 or this one?

Maybe just one more little thing before you submit. I would move the radio down slightly or up a bit more so the whole design doesn't look so much on the one horizontal plane.

I like this version! The radio looks so much better and the non-black outline on the milk cartons makes it look softer, which works well with this style.

The missing parts are here! Shadows, wall, flooring... What else is missing? Don't tell me to add something like a disco ball or whatever because I guess that'll use up more colors. Also, I replaced black to a much lighter black because I felt it was a perfect color for things like shadows.

Why "don't submit"? Which version do you guys actually prefer?

Tell me which version you guys actually like so I'll submit that version.

Without the grid lines, but with the shadows like in V10.

No grid lines and make the color of the shadows a little lighter so they're not the first thing somebody focuses on when they see the designs.

Either version 7 or version 10 without the grid lines would be my vote. I think maybe you're overworking it at this point; you're never going to please everybody, so you should probably just go with what you feel comfortable with and stop agonizing over it. It's a great design, good colours, and a really nice concept. I think you've worked on this one hard enough to submit it without losing sleep over it.

I know what you mean :) I got so sick of looking and editing my design after a week I just couldn't wait to sub it =p Yeah the grid lines aren't working, unless you can find a way to incorporate it to make it look like say, a fridge interior or so, i suggest taking it out. The shadows are ok i guess.. u could try lightening the shadows as suggested above. Perhaps with a slightly darker shade of the blue used by the tee, at least that was how i did my design =/

Great idea and terrific rendering. The grids (tiles) are definitely not helping, they end too abruptly. I'd say fade them out at the edges but even with that, I really think they distract rather than add to the design.



As atzh suggested, you might try a darker blue of the shirt color for your shadows. It would cut down the contrast and better integrate with the shirt. You could use the same dark blue to replace the black notes and the black in the radio so you stay at 8 colors. The black is just so strong and the cartons are light and airy.



I'd also suggest that you change the red in the radio to a less dense/vibrant color. Right now it's the first thing that catches the eye and I think that the milk cartons should be the ones that get that priority.



Just suggestions, it's your call in the end. Cheers!

Ok, overworking leads to version 10, which was a nightmare and didn't work out for most of you guys. So, I got rid of the so-called "grid" flooring here, and reused the original colors, I mean, black is back.

Eleven versions later , after all the effort I made to improvise it, I just didn't expect version 1 to be approved, but, oh well..
