I threw this together tonight as an experiment with textures.

That looks pretty. The beast is very cute, maybe too cute to make the contrast beauty/beast obvious to the viewer. I like the allover vibe, but would love to see some more (emotional?) interaction between the 2 characters. does that make sense?

Great textures, although I agree with gumbolimbo about the beast being a lil too cute, a bit more beasty...maybe a bit more jaggedy teeth..and what if his hand was reaching through the bars and the birdy perched on his palm?

This is really good... what about more of a leafy outline around the window instead of just the plain arc? Don't know about the beast needing to be more beasty...

Awww I love this, great textures. Maybe give the beast a horn or some spikes to make it a little more menacing without taking away how cute it is.

I think it's adorable as is; great textures and colors. People won't know the title when they see it on your shirt, so I don't think the beast needs to be more "beastly." Perhaps a different title when you submit, something about admiration. Or what about "Caged Beauty," leaving it up to the viewer to decide which one is the beauty.

Love the design, but perhaps a little too cute for ME to actually wear.

Totally agreed; man, your stuff is so amazing I'd buy it without even seeing it first. I LOVE this; the textures are incredible and I love the interaction between the beasty and the bird. For the love of all things, PLEASE sub this so I can wear it.

Just giving the beast horns would probably make him beasty enough without messing with the good composition you have here already.

So I followed some of your guys suggestions, and made some minor changes. It seemed a few of you wanted to the monster to look a little uglier/monsterly so I added some more snaggly teeth, and gave him some claws. I tried the horns idea out, but I didn't like how they look. I guess I suck at drawing horns :) I also added some brick looking texture to the background, and now the bird is singing, so it looks like they are interacting a little more.

i hate it when that happens. anyway, this looks great! the bird singing (that is what it is doing right?) was the icing on the cake! great job :)

I really loved the first bird, but this one is neat too. The claws are a nice touch. However, a couple of the teeth don't seem quite right, like they're floating outside of his mouth. I'm mixed on the brick pattern; it's a bit distracting.
