Heres something people have been telling me would be great on a shirt. It needs some adjustments and your comments and critiques are most welcome!

its kind of busy though...and how would you pull it off with 5 colors? i dunno...it might not go great on a t-shirt, but...shit, its a cool drawing for sure.

Excellent drawing. Like roboroller said, you'd have trouble doing it justice with only 5 colours. Oh, and I can't see a ninja anywhere, though that's usually the point =)

Maybe you can solve the 5 color/too busy problem by keeping it grey scale., maybe add some shadding...

I think it would be possible with colours. Use of the primaries, especially. Sub a coloured version and let's see!

You're all right... This is going to be tough, thats why its been a year and I haven't colored it. haha. But if I have all your support I'll push on and hopefully we can make something happen!

I think the concept is awesome, and if printed would definitely fall under my "OMG I have to have this" category. That said, however, the colouring is going to be very tricky. My suggestion is to use different thicknesses of lines in order to really make the characters stand out from the background. Other than that, keep tweaking and experimenting, and this could be very awesome indeed.

A placement idea, and what do you all think about tonality? Or should some colors be dropped in there?

This is tough stuff, but I keep working on it.

The only problem is that they cannot print below that bottom seem, so you will need to move the design up, but that is really just a technicality.

I kinda miss the buildings from the original sketch - it looks a little odd with just the one now.

Actually I think it would probably look better centered up higher, I'll have to make some sort of closure around the edges to wrap it all up.

jinosan, I honestly love this, but I have a possible solution for your color situation



just pick one color, and color all the things in the picture that would be that color, and don't color anything else



for example, if you chose green, the dinosaur and the alien would be the only things colored



also, I liked it better on white or grey :)

look at "U R My HEROine" for a better idea of what I am saying

Update! I narrowed it down to 5 colors, pretty tough stuff. Let me know if you all like the colors or maybe just shadows and highlights. Thanks for all your help and comments!

I don't know how many colors you have right now, but a gray may really help you. you could use it on the robots the building. and tons of other stuff in that picture.

If you go with highlights and lines I say go with V2, i like the gray lots more than brown on there. and bring back the old buildings. I like those too.

Yeah, 5 just might not work. I've got another idea that might keep with the epic feel of it. It does kind of have that cheese factor with the basic colors. Thanks and keep up with the comments!

color it like an old school comic book, black and white.

man I really like this shirt!!! Everything is perfect about it, the placement, the white tshirt, the artwork, we just need to figure out something about the colors. pick out 4 colors, and color in everything. Going with the comic book idea, old comic books only used 4 colors and everything was filled in. I'd suggest Blue Green Yellow and Red. Black would be your 5th color.

I think the black and white idea is great. Sin City-esque. That would definitely keep the epic feel of it.



But, I can't wait to see what you're thinking of.

Theres a new version in town. I thought it might be cool to just have a white fill on everything. Yeah.. there are a few details that need tweaking, but let me know what you think!



Also looks good on - Banana, Classic Pink (ohh yeah! for the ladies!), light blue, pacific blue, orange poppy, kelly, sagestone, burgundy, dakota slate, denim, khaki (seen here), athletic heater, and pretty much any of the other colors.

Yeah V3 or 2 here. But, i do like this latest one but I think if you're going to do it white like that you need some really good black shading everywhere. Like i said before make it look Sin City-esque and you've really got a winner I think.

what about v3, except drop in a couple tiny gold highlights? don't color in the whole image, just add shadows on some random lines, or make some of the eyes gold...

There was a Thrud the barbarian comic strip that used this concept and it's a really good idea. I really liked V4 but I think the green was too strong. V3 is cool as well. Too good not to sumit. Go for it !

although I would prefer it in grayscales... but, that's just a preference.

So just to show that I've been working on this, heres a slight update. It looks really muddy right now. But once I add in the shirt color to the mix it should lighten it up and make the characters pop!

I know it's a WIP, but I still like version three the most so far :)

This is such an awesome Illustration and I feel your pain with the 5 colours thing. I really like version 6 but I think the colours could be lighter/brighter perhaps. How you've handeled it is perfect but I think at the moment it needs something less similar to the T colour.

just a suggestion, or rather how i would approach it - make the line art the shirt color - use a slate shirt then you have all five colors for fills - make 2 colors with 2 shades for all your fills, then use the fifth to illuminate a single character or duel -

nice drawing, perhaps you could try blocks of black for shading... I know what you're struggling with though, colour as an after-thought is often difficult, I do it all the time!

Looking at this again I agree that it really needs to be lighter. I think for the next update I'll make the base color a bit lighter than the tee color. Any requests for the color of the actual shirt?

I think you are going to have to make it look like there is side lighting. make everything light on one side dark on the other. etc...

agreed on the lighting comment, it will have a more dramatic feel and better sense of depth with side lighting.

Great song, but this design was in no way inspired by it. Although there are a lot of similarities, I drew this long before I heard the song. Besides, I don't think the concept of a bunch of clichés fighting is too far out. Hope you enjoy!



I'm still working on the latest version, which should be be lighter and stand out more. Thanks for all the suggestions and support, coloring this has certainly been a trial but hearing from you all makes it all worth it!

too be honest, I like it dark, makes you want look deeper into it, and from a far it would just look a cool design overall.

I like vers 3 the best with the highlights. Also I'd keep in mind the printable area of the tee is only 14inches x 14 inches. Just so you don't get declined after all your hard work. :)

I kinda like the contrast of v.6

So cool! perhaps the grey that is on the front guys shirt could be as dark as the one in the back. I guess you have to get rid of one of the middle grey colors, and I think it will look better with more dark coloring and less light too, but its easy to be fooled on witch colors are the same here... I like the color on the dinosaur, so dont loose that one. Is it really six colors if the shirt-color dont count as one?

i think full wrap around along the bottom edge for placement would be gangsta! but you'd have to make the right and left edges match up.

I agree witht he comment on changing the color on the zombie in the forgroud to be darker, just seems to balance better. Otherwise I really like the color.

This is truly awesome. I will buy this shirt instantly. Are the things going to end abruptly at the edge of the shirt? That would be the absolutely only thing I would change is have them be complete figures all around. Amazing work none the less.

I like B because it most closely resembles the version 6. Granted I hope they let you print this huge so all the details are still there. If you can't do it that large I'd actually lean towards A because it would be easier for people to see.



So my vote would be for huge drawing at the bottom or smaller drawing in the middle. Sorry for being no help, but damn if it isn't awesome.

I think B would be an awesome placement.
