Hi All-

This is my first design I have put up for critique. I really want to get it right before entering it for submission, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I had this dogfight design on my laptop for a while, but never had a chance to really get it finished. Hopefully you guys will feel that the style and design of my illustration warrants it to be submitted even though it has been done before.



I really feel like adding more detail to the land below. Would that make it too busy?

Thanks for the comments guys. Any suggestions as to how to make them look more like dogs? The one that is flying fine is a British Bulldog, and the guy in trouble is a German Shephard. I'm going to take a look at your two designs moon unit, and then I'm going to sleep:)

Good point Sagral.....just sucks I didn't get it out earlier:) Then again, I guess we were all infuenced by the snoopy cartoons.

i'm not saying that is a bad design i like yours better in fact, but most people here will give you a bad score just because is allready done.

New Zealand surrealist artist, Grant Hannah, had pretty much the same concept as part of an exhibition he staged in 1980. That's not to say people won't like it but it may have been done to death.

Any suggestions on how I can make the dogs stand out more?

He's not exactly mainstream sweetie, although his work is awesome. I looked for links for you too and couldn't find any but I've no doubt he will be holed up in a back room somewhere still painting and occasionally exhibiting. At least I hope so! Some talent just shouldn't be left dormant. But it is a shame you can't see any of his work it's pretty mindblowing. And good luck with this piece too :o)

A minor alteration to the bulldog plane and dog. Does it look more like a dog? What are your thoughts ago the K-9 on the plane?

Will have some major updates as soon as I can.

His older works are not on here so no 'dogfight' I'm afraid. Looks like Grant has gone mainstream after all (he was a struggling artist when I knew him working in the art department of a major daily newspaper). It's worth a look anyway. Enjoy!
