RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
if i give you an answer will it make it better?
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
I'm just curious that is all. Thank you for looking btw and making a comment. I will check yours out
LivingInClip13 on Mar 09 '09
it'll make me understand it. otherwise at this point, the design means nothing to me. you have to have a target audience that connects with your design. that your design is geared towards. at this point, i have no idea what that is.
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
Cool lets have this conversation......all designs have to hit a target audience?
Question....what is the largest target audience? Robots? Ships? Comics? Design? Animals doing something funny? Great hand drawing? Abstract? |
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
If i was to tell you what it is I would say it is "an abstracted animal"
Basic use of color, halftones, rectangles, ornament, lines to make an image. The further away you are the better the picture, as you get closer it becomes randomness....like a monet |
LivingInClip13 on Mar 09 '09
ok, see, i get that, because i was sitting at my desk moving around trying to see if i could see it differently.
also, you don't have to be so hostile. i'm trying to figure out your design, so i could give better in put or a score if you put it in the running. if i don't understand something, i wont appreciate it, i wont give a good score. all i'm trying to do. |
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
aww living i'm not hostile at you...forgive me if that appears to be my tone.. not at all. just conversation.
thanks for your input |
I agree with LivingInClip13 right now the concept is not really clear, and also I think the halftone might be a bit overwhelming in the design, might be a bit too much
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
i think the background halftone is too much
thanks |
pretty unique! i think i would tone down the halftone so it doesn't give it the dreaded dropshadow look.

not a fan sorry... if it were a sloth however, we'd be talking! Thanks for the comment on mine... Du reckon I should put more colours on instead of the grey shades? |
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
ohh it's a sloth..... funny if i take the eyeball dots off and the nostrils what does it become? that is what this is looking at from a design point of view.
add colors to yours xpaddypx..make it pop |

It's trippy but it needs a little work, I like it thus far.
holly bri on Mar 09 '09
its very interesting, but there isn't really a focal point, i would try and simplify some of it to bring out the areas you want to emphasize. also i'm not crazy about the halftone gradient thing around the face, i would just get rid of it. other than that it's really cool! nice work

hey, i think it would be super awesome if you used at least a couple really saturated bright colors, right now the color scheme reminds me of bad wall paper. your design is bold and exciting, the color should be too!
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
thanks holly..version 4 has the colors saturated quite a bit.
holly bri on Mar 09 '09
like your v4, those colors are way better. also i didn't mean take the ornamentation off, but eliminate some of the pattern, i think the halftone is over used, it makes it a little confusing and hard on the eyes.
Wonderlove on Mar 09 '09
Interesting.
It reminds me of a Troika vase. |
mr deps on Mar 09 '09
hmmm, i'm not sure, the overall squareness/ symmetrical look is a bit offputting for me, maybe if it was smaller and the eyes stuck out more, you added a few asymmetrical flourishes it might appeal more.
i get that designs don't have to 'be something' in particular, but at the moment it seems more like a demonstration of halftone squares than anything else. |
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
thanks holly...its not supposed to really be anything at first glance other than a pattern..then as you look at it hopefully you see the figure in it. I really want to do a pattern shirt but nobody likes them so i have to add eyeballs and noses and whiskers.
but this is kinda like a monet...far away its an image and as you get closer it becomes pattern. |
mr deps on Mar 09 '09
see i think it would be better just as a pattern shirt
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
lol mee too mr. deps but you and i are a rare breed here then...
Why don't you try changing some of the squares into different shapes?
holly bri on Mar 09 '09
hmmm that makes more sense, you really converted it over to an animal really well, i do really like it, especially v4, i think that's your strongest =)
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
thanks for looking chris.
i think once you start changing shapes...like making the eyes round...changing the ears......making the cheeks oval, etc, then you start to loose the idea behind this. Then it becomes a face like every other face in here. Its not supposed to be like that... |
MarshmallowOwl on Mar 09 '09
Yours has lots of dots (like my first submission) too! :)
I really like it - sort of abstract but cute. I'm not sure about the colors, though. What do you think of my revised t-shirt design? How can I improve it? |

stephen.rollick on Mar 09 '09
Thanks for the crits earlier!
I like the direction you are headed with this. I think you should look into the art of Charley Harper, as you seem to be working in a similar style, perhaps you could steal a few tricks from him. |
RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09
Thanks Stephen for that link....i like Charley's work.....ima little looser in the abstract than he goes with it....not really trying to nail the head on the direct identity as he is...which may not be best for the unimaginative general public i figure. Mine is more of an intuitive art that pulls recognizable images from it.
thanks for looking |

I like the presentation. That blue t-shirt looks a bit too bright, however. Is there a very light blue you could choose instead?
Could you advice me on my new t-shirt up for critique? (I deleted the dragon because I wasn't going anywhere with it...) |
I think the yellow and the green both look good. Especially the green, actually.
When you submit it, I would just show the image large on a shirt (like the most recent version), without anything in the background or the smaller alternate shirt. Your design is pretty busy, and I think that works well for it, but anything extra going on in the background or foreground will probably turn people off. |

Then it becomes a face like every other face in here. Its not supposed to be like that... MarshmallowOwl on Mar 09 '09 Yours has lots of dots (like my first submission) too! :) I really like it - sort of abstract but cute. I'm not sure about the colors, though. What do you think of my revised t-shirt design? How can I improve it? DinosaurVoodoo on Mar 09 '09 Im not entirely sure whats going on here, but its awesome. :D I really like the colours. thanks for the comment on Flaaamingo! mike bautista on Mar 09 '09 show it on a shirt, its so huge at the moment. RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 Thanks Dino...that is the spirit i'm looking for. Why does every shirt have to say "a joke" or be clever? is that the only audience for threadless tee-shirts? RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 Version 4 mike. thanks for looking evan3 on Mar 09 '09 t-shirt placement? RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 version 4 evan for placement thanks for looking mike bautista on Mar 09 '09 where would the design be placed on the t-shirt? RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 version 4 Mr. Mike...you can see the placement there input welcomed thanks for looking evan3 on Mar 09 '09 same color? leontyn on Mar 09 '09 i would suggest to gain some inspiration from master's of expressionism.. this is kinda boring.. colours are really depressing.. you can do it better ;) RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 on a green shirt? MarshmallowOwl on Mar 09 '09 Wow! It looks even better on a t-shirt... I like the green, but have you ever considered a dark blue? RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 blue? RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 Please take a look at the other versions for close-ups, color changes etc. Thanks everyone for looking and for your critiquesbold text RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 Please take a look at the other versions for close-ups, color changes etc. Thanks everyone for looking and for your critiques Henni81 on Mar 09 '09 I like the blue! And the first yellow one. Thanks for your critiques on my designs! I can see you`re having a problem getting critiques on this. Maybe it`s because it`s a totally different style from what you usually see here, and thats a good thing! RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 Any time Henni....thank you for your comments Chris Rowson on Mar 09 '09 I like this much better on green I gotta say. RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 thanks Chris for the input.. BrandonB11 on Mar 09 '09 im sorry im just really not sure what u are going for RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 I'm going for Robots and Ninjas...lol PSYKE on Mar 09 '09 seems that there are mixed views on the color choices for the shirt. For some reason to me it seems to be more appealing on the yellow, maybe because you were already using warm SlutWithAbutt on Mar 09 '09 I LIKE GREEN - DIFFERENT=GOOD - NOW KILL YOURSELF GO LOOK AT CAKE Roachem on Mar 09 '09 its a different style, i lke it but the whiskers stand out to me, maybe a better color too i like where your goin though RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 thanks Roachem...i changed the whiskers because someone else asked me to change them.... i think i need them to make this look like something. thanks for looking ChrisDB on Mar 09 '09 i like the v1 t colour. nice design, I wanted to do sumtn abstract too, but this is sweet Sofamonkeyz on Mar 09 '09 I personaly like v1...I'm not sure whats going on here...looks kinda like an animal face....I'd work on the bottom portion...kinda looks like hairy geometric balls. MattyBoh on Mar 09 '09 i think the color scheme on the green shirt really pulls the image together, especially with the warm yellow behind it. RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 thanks guys and girls... Green shirt is digged by many hairy geometric balls??? hahahaaaa that is funny Sofamonkeyz.......where is your mind at? nevermind, apparently on someones hairy balls.. stephen.rollick on Mar 09 '09 Thanks for the crits earlier! I like the direction you are headed with this. I think you should look into the art of Charley Harper, as you seem to be working in a similar style, perhaps you could steal a few tricks from him. RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 Thanks Stephen for that link....i like Charley's work.....ima little looser in the abstract than he goes with it....not really trying to nail the head on the direct identity as he is...which may not be best for the unimaginative general public i figure. Mine is more of an intuitive art that pulls recognizable images from it. thanks for looking SlutWithAbutt on Mar 09 '09 STUPID papercutsandstringcheese on Mar 09 '09 I think the image is really cool.... it makes me think of some hallucinated robitic animal... which is a good thing. I like it on the light yellow the best, but I feel like more people would wear the green. submit! empiricist on Mar 09 '09 This style has nice potential and I like it on green the best! RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 made a minor adjustment.. thank you everyone for your comments today...mucho appreciative. RAD_Design on Mar 09 '09 look i have 3 version 9's...lol i think something got messed up over there at threadless thank you everyone for your comments today...mucho appreciative. |
