A friend of mine talked about how he wanted this text on a shirt and I thought it might be an idea worth submitting with the child on the trike attatched. Ive had a bit of a difficult time working with the limited 5 colour pallette (allthough now it is spot on 5). I'm really keen to hear peoples thoughts and constructive crit. Thanks in advanced

Has a kind of pop art/retro feel to it. Nice!

Hum... im not seeing my comments, hopefully this isnt just something on my end and this is going to turn into a double post but in any case here's what i originally had written:

Thanks for the positive buzz, you're right on with the retro thing as far as my intentions are concerned. I am curious to hear what people who hate text on these designs think considering that essentially this design is entirely based around it. Does that make it a bad design to you? Do you think i should change the font? that sort of thing.

Anyway allthough it hadnt come up I've satisfied some of my own issue with the piece regarding the form of the child and trike. Was hoping to tackle it with other complimenting colours but ofcourse there's that 5 colour limit again. Do people think this is an improvement?

The shading seems too heavy -- I prefer v1.

Ive updated the colours on this slightly, it is rather slight and depending on your monitor, may not even be noticable! But hopefully you can see the difference in hue and sat and all, your thoughts?

Mostly ofcourse the point of this one was to see the design on a host of t-shirt colours. Firstly i wouldnt submit it with this kind of scale as a sugestion but thats just to make it visible on the threadless templates. Which ones do you like best?

Oh and again on monitors, if you've got a bright LCD you might think ive put white in three times, there's three variants of it (if you didnt know from submitting designs yourself i guess).

It has a nice style, however I don't quite get the concept.

Maybe if you took away the "pointer" on the speech bubble (cause I don't think anyone's saying that) and make the bubble itslef like one of those sewer plates if you know what I mean...

I use the "third wheel" phrase on a semi-regular basis, but it didn't process at all until I read your description. I like your illustration a lot, I do, but it doesn't get your concept across. It's just a kid on trike.

I think that the phrase would be better illustrated via some other medium than a tricycle, which is obviously supposed to have three wheels. It would be like the bike that had the one wheel in the middle off to the side that's awkward and that gets in the way of everything...

Or maybe that's just me.

Also, I think your boy needs a shirt, maybe in the grey, and I agree that the point on the speech bubble should go.

Other than that, I think it's a nice illustration, even if it doesn't convey your concept very strongly, and I think that it may be able to stand as a drawing without having to fulfill your conceptual requirements.

Ok so on that speech bubble point thing, it was supposed to be pointed at the front wheel. The kid was kinda just extra imagery to flesh out the design a little and sorta work with the parody of olde style illustration.

But if that wasn't clear, it wasn't clear. I've removed the kid and I'm keen to get feedback on that to see what people think of that change. I've added the heart and moved the speech bubble to hopefully better run with the concept. I've also removed the shading at this point, should it be re-added? Your thoughts?

I'd move the heart to the front of the bike rather than the back. Maybe at front tire level or handlebar level.

See i couldn't do that because the heart is suppose to be coming from the two back wheels as they are the "couple" wheels. Hence the front wheel is the third wheeler.

I got it when I first saw V1, and I think it's pretty clear. But I also think "being the third wheel" is a pretty common phrase. Maybe it isn't?
Anyway, I really like this design with the boy on the bike, without him it looks empty. And maybe you should keep the heart just to emphasise on the concept? But make the outlines brown, like those on the bike and boy.
