Command Paste.
I am picturing the outer white areas as a belt print and then the rest of the design to be printed in a standard method.
The outer white is there to add interest to the shirt.

brentendo on Jan 24 '09
I like the idea of the distressed look, like I've said before, but I don't think it works well to have all of the white at the sides, it kind of makes it look like the tshirt is trying to make him thinner. It could be cool to give it a belt printed cracked effect, as if he's just been glued together
Maybe a smaller center placement, with no white. Maybe a gray shirt?
so you don't want to look thinner?
EricDiaz on Jan 24 '09
hmmm, maybe you could do a cmdC front and cmdV back kind of thing? Like with a little copy machine, scanner, camera or something on the front (then have two cameras with the glue on the back). Or a bunch of the different shortcut codes put on everyday objects. Also the orange top looks really big compared to the bottle itself. fun idea! it just needs something more.

what if i use a PC?

dylanawesome on Jan 24 '09
clever idea. but don't do the two-tone thing. it would look fine on a plain blue shirt

Version 2 with No White edges.

nice...
but it's missing something... i think it's been suggested before.. to somehow include the command copy i the design but nice illustration.. very clean! |
I just love this concept so much I don't htink it needs anything else
thanks. I don't really think it need a "command copy" added to it because that isn't the idea behind the design. It's a paste concept not a copy & paste design. I'd rather improve this idea instead of changing the idea.
this is so clever on its own...can you tell Ia m a big fan of this design??

Awesome! i love it!

gorty on Jan 25 '09
but what do you paste? you must copy first,
this needs the ctrl+c or somethin else, too simpel |
I don't think Paste needs a Copy to exist, but I agree it won't do anything without it in the computer world. Paste is an action and a substance so that is part of the "simple" joke/concept of it all. Thanks.
cugripograp on Jan 25 '09
love it! I dont think that copy is necessary, sometimes simple is better
crit? http://www.threadless.com/critique/35813/Just_my_luck |

KendallthePlant on Jan 25 '09
I think it's perfect as is :)
I really like this, and the colors are great. Good luck!! Score / Comment? |
My only suggestion would be to make the label more of an organic shape rather than just a rectangle. Otherwise, I love it. When you get a chance, http://www.threadless.com/critique/35828/Heron_and_Leer_Jets
Thanks |

curlyred on Jan 26 '09
maybe think about having the text fit with the curvature of the bottle, this is an excellent idea though!
thanks, I don't know why I didn't make the text curve a little when I made it. Good catch.
kikimaclean on Jan 26 '09
why hasn't anyone thought of this before, it's awesome!
yeah I'm surprised if I am the first one to think of this.
I really like the concept. but it definitely, to me, needs something more. Im not entirely sure what. but the first version, although the way it was done I didnt care for, but I liked the feel of it better. maybe some paste spilled on the shirt somehow.. or some paper crafts..
My fear about Paste "Spilled" down the shirt somehow is that it will make people think either Bird Poop or worse Human C... well you get it.
The Dot on Jan 26 '09
haha clever and simple. Agree with "mr spiers" a little paste spilling down the nozzle or just a little paste anywhere on the shirt would do some good.
Please crit mine: http://www.threadless.com/critique/35815/Dum_Spiro_Spero |
Good idea mr spiers

AlexPLeith on Jan 26 '09
My only suggestions would be placement. It is such a clean design and seems washed out slightly in the middle center, too status quo.
understandable.
RickAstley on Jan 26 '09
But it's not paste. It's glue. There's a difference. Why not a container of paste?
I'll never give you up. |
google says: Related searches: glue. Thus Paste = Glue because Google said so. :)
I didn't get a chance to work on this last night. Didn't get a chance to much of anything.
poisonberry on Jan 27 '09
Hahahahaha ;) Like the idea, but the bottle looks odd too me .. how about a tube of superglue that looks squeezed?
(where I come from our paste and glue looks different - lol) Please check this |
Made a few updates and fine tuned the illustration in parts. Added the shadow and curved the Text to match the label. It's still Mac themed and no I'm not going to add a "Copy" part to the design. It's all about paste. Paste = Glue to me.
Good Morning.
Updated this last night.
garciagirl on Jan 28 '09
Yes, leave it as just paste, works very well. The slight adjustments you've made really fine tuned this design!
still like the concept, but to me the design just isnt very dynamic. maybe thats ok. i dunno. if the bottle was laying on its side or something so that it was on a diagonal instead of just straight up and down, I think it would help.
Thanks.

I agree with Danielle. That's been my only problem thus far. If it were sideways would make it seem less awkwardly placed.

Halftone shading is sweet and illustration is crisp, nice
if you get a chance crit my new version http://www.threadless.com/critique/35886/SnakeWine thanks :) |
I think keeping the design as simple as possible is strong enough (no shadows or hatching). Have you considered adding scissors with the command for cut on them to go with the paste?
mezo I have thought about it and decided I wanted it to be only about paste.
Danielle and crew ok I'll try it on it's side or something later. |
only one little advice...
You seem to be using a mac because of the command symbol... Wouldn't it be better if you use the font that apple uses in its keyboards insted of that roman V? I'd appreciate comments on this one: Mirror |
Coyote Loco on Jan 29 '09
took me a second... love the idea. Not a fan of the label. either remove the label and let the letters just be on the bottle, or make the label taller to be a little more realistic.
I see what you mean about the label. I add that to my revisions.
I tried a few things. I wanted to do something dynamic so I added the belt print wavy pattern to the bottom for interest. I added a PC: ctrl+V to the bottle for all you PC users as well.
Skillysmurf on Feb 01 '09
love it.... although, i dont know if i particularly like the pattern at the bottom.... awesome idea though... one of those "i wish i had thought of it" ones
yeah the pattern is a bit much isn't it. I'll post another version without it.
Trebligom on Feb 01 '09
I kind of like your version 3 better, with the upright bottle and shadow

Removed the Pattern I had at the bottom of the shirt.

I personally didn't mind the old font, but it definitely works well to have the actual font from the keyboard
