I need a title for this. Also, would it be better if i changed the shark into something a little daintier, say a puffer fish, or something a little more similar to a toy dog? obviously i have a lot of work to do on the face, shark and jellyfish/parasol.

I think something daintier for a pet as you suggested might work better, perhaps a dolphin or a sea turtle or giant seahorse or something? maybe you could somehow give it some fru-fru qualities to as if it were a poodle type pet.

This is really cool.

I feel that you could utilize the jelly fish a little better. You could make it have really long wispy tentacles that flow around them and into the back ground. Might give the deign a little more depth.

If you don't do that, then maybe just add some bubbles or smaller fish in the BG so it doesn't feel so flat?

I love the shark as a pet... it isn't something you'd normally think of that way and it's a nice contrast to the pretty-ness of the mermaid and the shark's fins frame the scene very nicely.
If you're going to change it, keep it in the family, something like a sting-ray or I think someone mentioned a crustacean.

I like her without a face. If you do put one in I think it should be just a hint of one. Maybe try a lion fish? It might be hard to make it flow but it could be awesome if you pull it off. If not I kind of like the shark. It's sleekness acts as a nice counterbalance to all of the frilliness going on with the mermaid.

I think you need to hint at a face at least, the rest is detailed in such a way it stands out as an omission rather than a stylistic choice

Experimenting with a different colors and placement. I like the wrap on this one, If its doable. If not, i think it would be ok to let the shark fade off at the maximum imprint limit.

It looks awesome! The colours are great and I really like the way it wraps round. 'Afternoon stroll' or something like that could be quite nice, or if you offered a more orangey colour scheme 'Evening Stroll'

I liked the curve of the shark's tail and the colors from V4. On V5 the mermaid looks transparent. The tail of the shark curving around tied the composition together. Who would want to "walk" half a shark? Eww. I also liked that the tentacle the mermaid was holding were slightly curved, rather than straight. It looked more tentaclely.

You do need something where the light is, for composition's sake, but maybe try to simplify it or something. It's fantastic, though. I love the Art Noveau style, and it's infinitely better now than v1.

For a title, maybe you could call it, "If I have to draw ONE more scale...". Reminds me of those poor buggers making chain mail by hand all day for LOTR...

Wow - very nice. Some colour could perk things though - I think theres an expectation anytime you do sea creatures for the colours to be unusual or surprising. Muted palette is fine though.

personally, i like v4 the best (minus the ray of light). especially if the shark were bigger and more proportional to the mermaid. i'm telling you, sea stroll.

also, having the shark kinda wrap around the side of the shirt isn't a bad idea at all. one you enlarge it, you really don't want to have an unbalanced composition - so it's a good solve to what might end up being bottom-heavy.

I love this as it is right now! the background is beautiful -I would buy this!

The shark was more dynamic in version 4, and it was more compact horizontally, so it would allow you to keep the mermaid more central. The weight of your composition is now a little bit uncomfortably left-sided. I would combine this image and the shark from v4.

But seriously man, you can agonise for way too long on these things. Don't feel obliged to incorporate every suggestion. On the other hand, the crit has brought the best out of you.

the only thing i could say is that i can think of is that the jellyfish doesn't look like an umbrella that much any more.. that's the only thing.

This is my favorite critique submittal yet. Really great.

The one minor crit might be that I dont like where the shark gets cut off, its too close to the natural end point of the shark, I think it should be moved just a little to the left so that His full tail is visible, then you see a little background, and then it gets cut off.

On second thought, it looks fine as is. Good work.
