The back ground is too much.

You drew the owls by hand then scanned them in right? Just draw a nice branch for them by hand and skip trying to add the computer background.

If you really have your heart set on glowing stars, draw some by hand and scan them in too.

On the computer skills, I'm guessing you don't have illustrator. Stick to hand drawing till you get a chance to get a copy of illustrator.

Spend some time with illustrator when you have no specific goal. Draw a simple shape or line. Try out all the different brush strokes, apply feather and other effects, play with transparency and layering.

You have the underlying drawing skills from looking at the owl. With practice you should be able to do great things in illustrator.

i agree with doing away with the background. if you want to sub a design with the owls, then i would just stick with the owls and nothing else.

but even so, there should be more than just owls on a shirt for it to do well. i'm not sure what, though. it might be better to move onto another idea, one that is more concept-based?

The illustration is really sweet especially their faces- I do agree with some of the previous comments. I think the beauty of the drawing is hindered by the vector art. Maybe draw some tree or woodsy elements that cascade down the side of the shirt to kind of frame your already great drawing- go for some a-symmetry so it doesn't look boxey-

very cool so far you just need to flush out a concept

when you have time check out my current design-

thanks-
