Here's a quick sketch I made the other day.

Im expecting to watch it with colors, in order to take an opinion. Just now it seems a bit simple, but i think that the idea is that it's shines by its colours, isn't it?

To elaborate a little more, I like the idea of leaving the butterflies simple, like without faces, sort of as a background, and make the design really focus on the caterpillar and his leaves. Maybe have another one or two caterpillars actually eating leaves, while looking at the main guy like he's a nut. :) I really can't wait to see this in color!

Hey, it only took 100+ days for me to submit version two :D

I know I originally intended to use water colors, but I decided instead to submit this for the new Loves comp.

I forgot how hard it is to create a design using only four colors.

haha nice time difference between the two versions! its great when you find something you hadn't finished and unearth it at a later date. This looks awesome, the concept is nice, and I'm a huge fan of your style. what colour tee were you thinking? I think it would look great on a pale yellow.. maybe

Thanks, Brendan. I actually have a design way back from the Loves Red Cross competition (like three years ago) that I'm thinking of finally finishing. I'm a bit of a procrastinator!

I'm not sure about the shirt color yet. I'll probably give a few options.

I was looking forward to seeing this in watercolor, but this is nice too. Definitely put it on a colored shirt - it feels a little empty on white.

it's refreshing to see such drawing here, real sweet.
but maybe remove those legs of this lil' caterpillar? that should emphasize the crawling and flying contrast.

I almost wrote it off as just a cute drawing but now it get it! I like it. Maybe think about making the leaves on the tree match the leaves on the caterpillar. It took me a minute to figure out they were leaves on his back. But don't listen to me!

I totally missed the voting. I've been completely gone from surfing the net for almost two months (yay unexplainable muscle and joint pain) and I'm just now getting back around to being back in the swing of things. :) I voted for your Bungee! design yesterday and cursed myself for missing the Dreamer one. :( But, I love it still and the mini-comic was freaking hysterical. :D
