I thought I would put this up for comment -- just a little doodle I did while on the phone, scanned and coloured on the 'puter. Had to re-do the tree a lot, that part of the sketch didn't translate well...
It needs some cleaning up, but other than that is there anything people think I should do?
If you can't see it well: it is a robot on a swing with a single tear.
the tree is a really cool style, the leaves look like paint splatters, i like it... but i'm a little iffy on the subject matter, but thats just me... i'm more for the happy designs... it's hard to see the tear in this view... a close up would be nice...
I think if you want to go the sad robot route, you're really going to have to work to bring something new to the genre. There have been a LOT of sad robot submissions, and unless you can really WOW! them, most voters are going to say "boring" or "She doesn't even realise?" (which is the definitely threadless "sad robot" print).
So it depends on how much work you want to do, how attached you are to this idea, and whether or not you feel like doing something other than a sad robot in a swing. (With this title, you could probably do a pretty cool FENCING ROBOTS design, if you're into that sort of thing.)
Ah, well yes I could do a fencing robot, but the original shakespearean line was about humanity "If you prick us, do we not bleed"... so kinda going for robotanity; but if it feels like it is too similar I could just do something else with the style. Keep the tree, do something fun with it...
