This basically came from the saying "monkey on your back" but now I kind of like the idea of having the little guy clinging on back there, kinda like he is depending on me to take him interesting places. Sorry for the poor quality, gif became my only option. Also title suggestions are welcome, I ran out of ideas after monkey business...

I honestly think you can refine the illustration a little more. Other than that, maybe try to make the shirt folds look a little more realistic, instead of outlining them in black, maybe a darker yellow. Hope this helps.

Hey no skunk, you mean add graphics to show where the arm and tail are impressing on the shirt, like the one where the hand is grabbing around the waist?

haha, I was actually thinking of doing roughly the same thing. yours is very good though. It's reminding me a bit of Curious George.



It's a good design, but maybe, since most people only ever see the front of someone's shirt you should add something else to the front. you could have the monkey's tail holding a banana or something, haha.

yeah or even have both of the monkey's arms wrap around the front so it looks like it's hanging on to the wearer's neck.



As for the monkey itself, I'd make the arms a bit less beefy and the head a bit larger, and maybe just search around the internet for some stock pictures of monkeys for ideas as to different poses and refining the anatomy.

Cheers guys, Yeah i really dont like the tail how it is at the moment so I will definately be re-doing that, I love the banana idea too. Ill give it a go hopefully tonight as well as having the other arm coming over the top.

No, the idea "monkey on the back" is what I just did a few days ago, it was my description and everything. I don't really care, I'm just a little sensitive about it cuz someone really did steal my design earlier this past week, and i liked that one alot more

When I inverted the colours it turned kind of a neon blue with white outline on a black tee. Is this a good direction?

Is this a better direction for the monkey? Both arms will go over onto the front and it is much less curious george looking. I like the tail better going the other direction and it will be holding a banana on the front.

Ok so I worked on thinning down the original chubby monkey and changing the tail to the other side. But what I will most likely do is develop both styles of monkey for a more contrasting view and them put it up to a 'hopefully' democratic vote! Huzzah!

Heres a new monkey, kinda took a bit from both styles. The line is where the arms would wrap over the shoulders onto the front of the shirt. Please let me know how the bunching lines around the feet look, they dont seem quite right to me but I cant seem to work out the physics without haveing a handy monkey around. Tail and banana to come...maybe...

Its another layer that I just blurred to excess. Not too sure about the ability to print it. Any suggestions on how to improve the shadowing and also the shirt ripples will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe I should apply the shadow thingy to the folds? instead of solid colouring them? Opinions?

Blurring creates hundreds of shades of the thing you're blurring. Convert your blurred layer to a halftone to make it printable.

o i like the banana cool! and i'm not technosmart pants, but if your in photoshop i'm guessing half tone is the opacity and you just lower it, the bar is at the top when you click the brush tool, but i might just be talking about the totally wrong this cause you seem to know what your doing

simple easy way, you can make halftone with the halftone pattern filter in photoshop.

Umn, not much luck with the halftone, cant seem to get it working. The dots are way too big and the angles end up screwing up. Anyone want to help me with it?

yeah, you can go in the filter menu and you can change the size of the dots with a slider. Set your foreground and background colors to black and white, then use the filter, and set the layer to "multiply" so that you can get rid of the white dots. If the black dots are in the wrong spot, you can invert the layer with ctrl+i to get them in the right spot. If you have any other questions, just post em here

Your other option is to do a flat vector shadow. Give it some volume by wavering the outline so it looks like the shadow is falling on the wavers on the shoit.

Great execution of the monkey on your back theme. Critique-wise, I'd like to see slimmer arms and maybe legs on the monkey - he looks too human in the arms. And possibly, for sales purposes, a 'cuter' monkey face would be nice.



It's definitely submittable, but I'm giving it "needs work" only because it's a good enough idea that a little tweaking could make it that much better.
