Thriller project - just mapped out the dance. Now trying to figure out how to draw it. It's going to start with a zombie coming out of a grave/the ground. The dance is kind of split into 6 main segments (lines) with a possible 7th for MJ and some of his signature moves. I don't want it specifically to be a step-by-step Thriller routine, because there is quite a lot of repitition. I figured it would be best to go once through every dance move and finish with MJs moves and him with his open hand to the sky. Whaddayouthink? I also have to decide to go for the same zombie dude, or do a different zombie on each of the 6 lines, with a MJ zombie on the last one...

yeah - that pixel one looks sweet. Stinger also has done a MJ dance type thing before but this is going to be less a MJ tee and more a zombie tee. I know he's in the thumb pic, but it won't have any MJ likeness - only the poses.

gridded it out and now sketching the figures. I'll go over these adding outlines and details and giving them a bit of character. But do I do a different zombie character for each line? Decisions, decisions.

A different zombie for each line would definitely make the piece more interesting, but it might break the flow from line to line.

I would do the same zombie in all instances. Looks promising!

it would be great if he ended up going back into the earth. make it go like full cycle.

I think this will be the character. Modelled loosely on the thriller style zombies that are mainly in suits.

For those who are not following this crit - this is just a proposed character for the design. Check previous versions to get an idea of the concept. Cheers.

Thanks FM - I know what you mean, but I wanted to go for the kid-friendly Thriller zombie look - which is not like the Evil Dead zombie. His face is pretty zombified when you get a closer look :)

thanks guys! Rob, I'll give your suggestions a whirl today, but my designs rarely seem to look right on darker fabrics. I think it's something to do with the thickness of my linework and the space,or lack of space between the lines for colour. We'll see though...

Haha That's nice, but I think just the arm falling off is just measured enough. He can't die, anyway. He's a zombie, after all. Plus - it's kind of a nod at the Thriller vid, in which a zombie's right arm falls off as they surround MJ.

It seems like it needs something to put it over the top/pop out more. Kind of along the lines of what Robsoul is talking about. Can you make them a tad bigger? Or maybe make a big zombie to go on the sleeve?

Neh - I tried what Rob suggested and it just wasn't flying. More to do with my linework than his suggestion. They have to be that size really - they are currently at optimum IMO :P
