I've been away from Threadless for awhile, and this was the last design I played around with. After nearly two years of languishing in my computer, it's about time to submit it!



That said, it's likely a little stale. Cleanup ideas are welcome! I realize the design won't show well on all computer screens, sorry about that.



Specific questions: Should I try to sharpen up the bikes a bit? Or does the hand-drawn look work? How about the darker autumn colors--- too brown? Try for summer instead?

Thanks for the input. I'd considered making the background to the bikes 'splashes' instead of stripes, but those seemed to be overdone. Thoughts?

Like the hand drawn bikes, as far as the shadow goes something more dynamic would make the design less stale (the straight vertical lines are a bit boring). Maybe some kind of ink splotch could look nice, but I would try and explore some other options too.

yeah splashes are a bit overdone, maybe break up the lines so that there not all the same width and length.

Doesn't look like my comment made it... anyway, same placement as V1.0, so I didn't redo the model's shirt. Brighter colors, changed the background, changed the brown bike. Thoughts?

it looks good but i'm not a fan background behind the bikes. is it supposed to be a silhouette of something or is it abstract?

I agree with Aaron. Nice illustration of the bikes but the back ground isn't really doing it for me either. Maybe try tiretracks or gears..

Ooh, I like your suggestion of gears. I'll get cracking on it.

Definitely better and less distracting now that the shadow is changed. I agree that gears would add more interest.

I really like these colors on this dark shirt. I agree with the comments about the shapes in the background, they are a bit distracting. i think the gears are a great idea, or even something else that is recognizable and doesn't exactly go with bikes.... maybe leaves or something since you are clearly going for that autumn feel. overall, great illustrations!

loose the back ground though, and i don't think gears are necessary, obviously this is not the most detailed drawing and it doesn't need to be.

I really like it... the background don't looks too busy or chaotic... I think it really makes you to look twice at the design.
