I like your idea. think you need to work on his hand a bit. its not quite there, but its heading in the right direction.

i'm not sure i like the design going all the way down to the bottom of the shirt . . .

i agree with grace motrace, it would look better that way

and try highlighting his beard with a dark grey instead of red

I dig the symbols, but think the background behind em could be a more muted color so that focus is on zoltar and the symbols.

I like the addition of the grey, but the reflected light on his palm looked better to me when it was brown

Also prefer the brownish shadow on his hand.

oooo that makes it a lot funnier! I am not too into that bottom shadow. I would also like to see some depth (maybe some 1 point perspective) inside the box?

i think i like it better without the word bubble. also i like the way the rays are a bit darker on the brown shirt -- it'd be cool if they were darker on the other colors too. makes it stand out better from a distance.

Created a little depth in the box.

Not a big fan of the maroon color (maybe because maroon was one of the colors I had to wear in high school) but I really like the design and the concept. I like how the word bubble is like the magic 8 ball triangle read out. Looks good!

looking good. the only thing i don't like is the line around the speech bubble, its not even. is that on purpose? I think maybe I just liked it without the text.

Great design. Like the green shirt and prefer no text box. I like the text on the ball like you had in your original sub. Not sure about the shadow under the ball, since there is not any other perspective in the drawing. If you want the shadow, I think it would be more consistent to either move the shadow behind the ball, or add a shadow in front of Zoltar and his arm to match the ball.

I likes, but I agree with hippiekasey (and trust me, it pains me to agree with anything said by a hippie) you should darken the area behind him a bit.

Made a few tweaks and changes...

the only change i'd make is the color of zoltar's clothing



he blends into the box he's in. draw more attention to zoltar!
