Every time I look at tiled floors I see a cat face. I just thought it would look nice on a shirt and wanted everyone to see cat faces on tiled floors too!

it's a cool idea but why that big? I think I'd like it better if it were smaller and with more "common/simple/shaded" tiles it would give a cool pattern effect and make you look at the cat tiles appearing somewhere in between!

Honest;y I was in the bathroom doing number 2 and I looked at the ground for a while it was tile of course and well At first I saw a karate guy but then I saw a cat sorta face.

The top one has no mouth because it's supposed to be the forehead of the middle one.

yeah it's cute. i half agree with the first comment of the cat missing it's teeth, and completely accept the forehead reasoning... so it's that idea of when you are looking at something (like tiles) and you start to see a pattern... and then something goes wrong and you loose the pattern... and then you find it again....and loose it.

....anyways, i'm down with the way it is a pattern with a proper repetition, and then not.

Yeah , I agree with the missing teeth. I figured out that it was meant to be the next ones forehead, but its kind of distracting for the same pattern not to continue. I was thinking you should have the teeth on the next cats color, but that would make it look like they were biting each other on the head. I think it will be a cool design once the kinks have been worked out.

1. OK with the teeth, the middle cat's teeth show over the forehead of the lowest cat, so following that reasoning, the teeth of the top cat should also show. UNLESS the middle cat is in the front and the other two are behind......



2. I would also suggest not using the tee colour for the middle cat, rather let him have his own colour that way the pattern repeats in a more harmonious way.

Well yes the middle cat was supposed to be in front and the other two behind. Mountain Gnome I'm not sure what you meaning having the pattern repeat in a harmonious way I actually used the tee color for the third cat so you would have to look into the tiles to see it and also because I did not want to reach 8 colors. And I also used the lines to show that the cats are supposed to e hidden in tiles, I just thought they lines would make you have to look a little closer. but I'll work on some changes.

NEW version now I have actual tiles in the design and made it more to the side and added a mouth to the top one.

I like this version better but not the positioning. Maybe the hip instead of the shoulder....

I prefer the placement in V1, and think that the tile lines could maybe just fade out to the edge. What i meant by harmonious , is that when you use the tee colour as the one cats face colour when you look at the design from afar, the face looks like it is missing pieces. thats all really.

LOVE it. Way better than v1. Great job. and center would be the way to go on this one.

I know the cats are centered perfectly, but the shading on the top right makes the placement seem heavy to the right. (Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to think about.) Other than that, I think it's ready to submit. I especially like the ear poking out to the left!

Yea I saw the shading making it more towards the right and not fully centered but I thought well it's just shading it couldn't hurt.

I don't know that you need all of the tiles. I think you could just give the dimension to the tiles with cats on it and center the whole image. Or, put image on the other tiles, of habitat texture, showing how cats can blend into the environment. But overall, very nice

I like how the one tile with the ear sticks out - perhaps make the rest more asymetrical as well. Maybe that way you could make it look less heavy on the one side... or emphasize the heaviness, depending on which way you wanna take it.

I like the blue shirt with this one, but I wonder what it would look like with just a few blank tiles instead of a perfect rectangle.

Ok I added some see through shading and made the lines thinner. Should I make the lines thicker for that more toon-ish look and how does the shading look?

Looking good, the one ear sticking out looks nice, I would add some more tiles sticking out like that, and take some away around the edge, then maybe add some tiles to the side just by themselves.

I like it! Only thing that bugs me is that the right side is getting close to the arm and there's a lot of empty space on the left. Try either taking a few blocks from the right off or adding some on the left, just so it's better centered :D

Well the dimensions throws it off from being fully centered because it adds more to the right But I'll do something interesting to it soon.

I like the idea put forth by Liza Phoenix. Looking better and better every time.

Yeah, I agree that there should be more stray tils or at least some more of the cats faces sticking out of the main rectangle. Keep the improvements coming!

Good concept, but there is too much blue space. I would scatter some patterns in the blue or put some more of the faces.

i like the arrangement you had in v1, it kindof reminded me of argyle :) maybe you could bring the depth to the tile you have here with v1's layout

I'm gonna try lighter colors because a lot of shirts on threadless aren't this bright so it might not fit on the site.

Hmm, I like the previously stated idea of having more tiles sticking out from the main mass of tiles; it would allow your design to stretch out and breathe into the rest of the shirt, really make the design a part of the garment.



I would like to see some kind of pattern or texture in the tiles surrounding the cats' faces, something suggestive of fur to make the tiles bond more effectively with the cats' faces.



What are the cats looking at? Maybe that could be an avenue to explore further in your next revision. Keep at it! :)

I think it really needs more tiles sticking out with the ear and some could be taken away from it so it doesnt look so square. I don't know if lighter colors, I really like the ones you have. So far, so good.

Well the thing is do people where shirts that color?? I know the royal blue is common but that orange and yellow isn't all that common.

Just thinking maybe you could raise the tiles of the top cat, reinforcing that 3d eliment. Just a thought.

i think that the blank tiles should be the same color as the shirt, because right now they look really solid and too intense

this is pretty kickin'!! great idea!! the only thing i would change is the placement and maybe some random tiles floating around somewhere else, i agree with x7ox mess with the colors but not the same as the shirt...maybe some softer tones instead of such bold ones...that's just me though...other than that this is a fantastic design!! very creative!! oh and thanks for the crit!!

I think that its almost ready for submission. The only thing that I may do would be to add some background so there is a better flow into the t-shirt. Also, on the blue shirt, can you see the cool designs on the yellow blocks?

The best version so far. I like the added detail in the blue tiles.

Awesome illustration, cool, unique idea. It is a little too cutesy for me to wear, but can definitely see it as more of a girl design and/or kids design. I think it's ready for sub.
