Maybe have the text the other way around? Horizontal instead of vertical, and I think you would still get the joke, although it would be a little more subtle. The hacky player would be a nice touch.

Vertical text is always hard to read and should only be used on the sides of buildings spelling out HOTEL or DINER (in my opinion of course). So, turning the letter would help, as would a silhouette...because at first glance, I would think it was just a soccer ball.

Reset the type to run horizontal instead of vertical

Much better....it helps the overall design. I don't like that the lines under the ball kind of end randomly and at different distances from one another, especially since the rest of the lines seem pretty evenly spaced and precise.

I like the lines under the ball, but not the vertical ones along the side.
