This is an idea i've been playing with. The cute little old-timey windmill reads the fashion magazine, she wishes she could be like the windmills on the cover...

Thanks, I've been struggling to figure out how to personify the tall windmill more, they're very simplistic so finding ways to bring out traces of "humanity" in them is tricky, any ideas?
^chelly, the bottom windmill isn't old, it's a girl wishing she could be like the other windmill
You cold make the old windmill look like a fat, frumpy girl and the new one like a super-sexy vixen (in their face an body-wise too). I think there don't have to be so many colours - loose the black lining!
I also agree on the simple factor, as it doesn't really draw me in. I always look for an artist with a style, or something that really sets apart the design or idea. Right now it is so simple it doesn't set it self apart.
You could draw it more organically, I suppose. Als, I'd get rid of either the pink and red and get something between them in stead of both, and use a darker grey so you can make these things pop more ( i mean by shading) and use empty space between the stones of the short one. You could also add a darker grey on the closer side of the sleek one. Just my suggestion. Thanks for your crit.
Hahaha, I love this idea. I'm with everyone else, though. If you can make this a lot less simple, it would be perfect. Try drawing some freehand stuff. I saw a brown-ish cross-hatched style here (That's what I think of when I see windmills).
thanks for the comments, I agree with most here, the concept could be great but it's just not flowing with the artwork you've got so far.
I think putting time into really giving the new skinny one a personality will help, but the overall style of the art could use a bit more ... ummm... depth?
Better! I'd use that shadow gray to give it a little more roundiness, but that's really about it. This is gettin good! The chubby one looks really unhappy, good job there.
1. See if you can make the design a bit more 3D. The skinny one is OK, but the chubby windmill seems flat in comparison, maybe if it was less front on, more at an angle, like the skinny one is.
2. For the skinny windmill, perhaps make the pole rounded instead of angular.
looking better, one last suggestion: move the thought bubble more to the centre of the tee so that it is more symmetrical, as at the moment it looks all squashed up on the left.
