I've made a design like this before, but I never finished/continued with it (until now). I drew this, then scanned it in, traced and coloured etc. it in Adobe Illustrator.

I'm not sure about placement yet at all, as I'm trying to improve the design first, and it will probably not be on a white (light) shirt, but we'll see.

Tell me, does it need colour? I'm working on one now, will get it up asap.

I don't know if I get it. I've been looking at it for a while & I know it's a tree but I don't see the deeper significance. It's pretty enough, tho.

Yeah- I'm sorry to have to say it doesn't have much of a deeper meaning, which is something I'm a bit bothered by myself. The title really is just referring to the branches inside the tree.

I like the design of the tree, but agree with others that it needs something more. Even an addition of a bolder color would make it better I think - it needs something that "pops" (as cliche as that saying is...)

I've had a look at it like this, and I think I shuold change the font on the street/number sign- it's not really readable (it says 'no. 6' 'park avenue'). The mailbox needs somepersonality, and I need to puut something instead of the bookcase, which just isn't working out (it's the bottom 'gap').

I think if you're tryin' to make the gaps look like they're rooms in the tree you should move the hammock and guitar a bit back to help with depth. I like this a lot though.

OK- So I'm thinking this will do well on a creme shirt, and IF I make the yellow (for all the objects) a brighter yellow, perhaps I will make it so that it matches the yellow for a yellow shirt.

Coffee your color palette is flawless. You are right. Do not change a thing. Sometimes people say things on here and I wonder if it is what they really think or if they just have to say something. The tonal look of this image is spot on. The values are unified and they look perfect on that offwhite shirt. I really dig this design as is and think you should submit it.

I'll echo olbeardy, the colour selection is great, and I've seen a lot of comments on the critique forum coming from way out in left field. The design and colour is great. The only finetuning I'd recommend is gonna be a pain in the ass and it's getting down to the nitty gritty.

But, I think the only weakness (if it can even be called that) is in the linework of the leaves (which I'm sure you got sick of). I think patience here and consistency in the leaves will polish this off to a $5 out of $5 tee. It looks like you started the leaves at the very top (just left of the middle) then realized what a pain in the ass it would be and sort of slid downhill into a bit of messier work through the middle and the bottom.

If you were to put in time and use the kind of linework you have at the top through the whole tree you would be pushing perfection.

I know how you feel, I've been there on projects, but I really think if you put that hour or so of detail work in on this you'll be really happy with the final piece and I also think it'll be a really well resolved work.

it might be cool if you put some texture on the background to make the shirt look like it is a recycled shirt. I don't know if you ever seen recycled paper, maybe something like that. Just a suggestion, but I think it's great without it

Really like the progress of this design! I don't think you should change a thing and I really like the color scheme!! Oh yeah the new mail box is a great improvement from the previous versions!!!

I like this. it looks very good!

The mailbox is now many shades of awesome. However, the placement of the park avenue sign makes the *cough* unbalancedness of the tree more pronounced. If you print this design out on paper, and look at it in front of a mirror you should see what I mean (that's what I do to make sure my drawings look balanced O_0) You could always add another branch in lower down to explain the excess foliage there, that may help.

I really think the font on the sign also lets the illustration down. It's not quite harmonious with the rest of the image. Easily fixed, though.

Were you going to re-name the tee? To something like, "Park Avenue"? Hehe.

Damn. I just had a thought. A whole park full of these trees would be so cool....

I know! It's exactly what I'm working on right now Goldendust! It's proven much harder than I thought though, and so much work because of all the detail that I'm not sure I'll be able to make myself to finish it 0:).

it's interesting. I really didn't get it until I looked at the first design. I think I personally prefer the simplicity of the tree just for the tree's sake. I really like the birdhouse though!

I think you're going well. The first version is, I agree, very nice. But something that simple just will not run on threadless- I think the direction you're moving towards is a good one. Don't stress yourself or overwork yourself on it, though. Effort is great, but don't let it sap all the enjoyment out of it.

I have been SO busy lately, i haven't had time to work on this! But i've gotten so many reactions, thanks for that.

Seriously good. Major respect for such a good design.

Looks really nice, I just have one issue, since you're using the same colors for the inside and outside of the tree you can't instantly tell them appart. Probably justadding a new color could solve this, a darker green for the ouside, change the lighter green to the darker one yoyu're already using and change the darker one to the new one.

Though I don't know if anyone else has mentioned it since I didn't read the rest of the comments. Good luck.

I do think it needs contrast, that all of the inside should be a yellower color, so it looks like a warm fireplace lit home, and I think the name you have on the sign, 'Park Avenue' is perfect.

I wanted to make a whole park with these trees... But that would be too hard and you'd probably not see all of the detail. So I left it with one :P

I wanted to clean this up a little, so I redrew it. I finally took Pudget's advice to make all the leaves neater, and I think it was worth it. Now I'm going to colour it- the palatte will be slightly different after I got some comments saying there should be a more distinct difference between the inside of the tree and the outside- I decided to go with yet another comment and make the inside more yellow. So that's what will be coming up, and then I might sub it!!! :D

I don't think I will have this finished by Monday, I'm still having trouble with the colouring! Should I just put all the colours together in one layer, and worry about it if it even gets chosen? And then enter it for monday? Because this just sucks :(

color range, click on the green, make the fuzziness slider move all the way up to where the green part of your art shows all in white. then once all of your art is selected, copy it, paste it on a new layer, make a new layer below it, and color on that new layer. the green part of your art will stay green, and you can do anything you want on the layer below

one way to color in photoshop is to go to select....then color range..

I am soooooo sorry that happened to you. Maybe you can get some computer guru to get you info off your hard drive and put it in a new computer. I had to do that when mine fried its power supply. Thank God the hard drive was safe! I have an external hard drive now. That scare is not going to happen to me again.
Since you're redoing the design anyway (great design, by the way!) Make the openings in the tree with leaf shaped edges.
