I wanted to clean this up a little, so I redrew it. I finally took Pudget's advice to make all the leaves neater, and I think it was worth it. Now I'm going to colour it- the palatte will be slightly different after I got some comments saying there should be a more distinct difference between the inside of the tree and the outside- I decided to go with yet another comment and make the inside more yellow. So that's what will be coming up, and then I might sub it!!! :D

And again, thanks so much everyone. I never expected to get so many good critiques back from you! :) xx

Oh and I just saw that that cute little birdie shouldn't have such thick lines...

i am impressed at your dedication to this design...it's working well though with the new improvements...please don't lose the lovely muted pallete you were using before though...i get that the inside needs to be darker though...i just don't want it to go too in your face!

ps thanks for all your comments on my design

I'm putting in the colours, I'm working on it. But it's not going well :P I'll get there, maybe, hopefully in time for the comp. Damn my exams.

This is making me wish I had photographic elements in here - then I wouldn't have to seperate my colours into layers! Can anyone please tell me the best way to do this??

Thanks Stezi!

I don't think I will have this finished by Monday, I'm still having trouble with the colouring! Should I just put all the colours together in one layer, and worry about it if it even gets chosen? And then enter it for monday? Because this just sucks :(

color range, click on the green, make the fuzziness slider move all the way up to where the green part of your art shows all in white. then once all of your art is selected, copy it, paste it on a new layer, make a new layer below it, and color on that new layer. the green part of your art will stay green, and you can do anything you want on the layer below

whoops. the first part should read:
one way to color in photoshop is to go to select....then color range..

I've decided to stop working on this until my exams are over- which mean I won't be able to put it into the loves drawing comp, which sucks. But school's kinda important...
Grr.

Thanks for critiquing my design. And I am more surprised that you knew it was birthday...haha but thank you. I really like this shirt. Simple and yet complex. I think the complexity of your drawings makes this shirt really attractive. I'd buy it. Well good luck with this design and managing your time with school ( I have school too unfortunately...so i understand).

I am soooooo sorry that happened to you. Maybe you can get some computer guru to get you info off your hard drive and put it in a new computer. I had to do that when mine fried its power supply. Thank God the hard drive was safe! I have an external hard drive now. That scare is not going to happen to me again.
Since you're redoing the design anyway (great design, by the way!) Make the openings in the tree with leaf shaped edges.
ndstillie
   ndstillie on Jan 19 '09
bummer.
i have had that happen a couple of times.
If your hard drive still works, you can stick it in another computer and get your stuff off.

maybe if the leaves were inverted, green with white lines, that would make the texture in the leaves gaps stand out more.

check out mine?

IAmTheSea, this version is just a quick show of what I was up to- i was making things neater. I f you have a look in the previous versions you can see what It'll look like :)

Thanks Francesa and ndstillie for the hint, I doubt that will work in this case though :(
