A play on Nietzche's "God is Dead."

interesting art work - the protrait is great. The type face doesn't really match the image - perhaps something a bit more "German" (try "Broken Script Bold Rough - you can download it free frome Jabroo.com). The font you used has an oriental feel to it.



Also, it might also have more impact if you deleted the "not" ...go with "philosophy Is Dead" instead.

@Junosgold: Thanks. I chose the font because the image type is supposed to be a graffiti stencil, but I'll give it a try with the new font, thanks!

Any other opinions on the "not"? I have the not because I'm using the graffiti style to attempt to bring Nietzsche and with it Philosophy into the modern age.

I think the idea is awesome, but I agree with the text comment, it doesnt work well. Its cool that its goining for the grafiti look, but its legibility is kinda lost. Also maybe try centralizing everything, like how the text at the bottom is centered to the character, the top could be as well. Or philosophy could be moved right above is not dead. Maybe some color, make the word dead the color red. Good work though!

Very cool. I agree with dan.d and would center "Philosophy" over the image. If you use a different color I would use it on the word "Not." The immediate reference for me was the slogan "Punk's not dead". I think it might be funnier to have the slogan read "Philosophy IS dead." But that's just me. Cause it IS you know... Or maybe twist the whole thing and reference the late 60s (Clapton era) with a simple "Nietzsche is God".

I agree with all of the above: I thought it said "Thelosophy", which is not a word.

i really like the idea. i a stencilled portrait. i don't really like stencils much, but would have to ask if you could try another cleaner version of the stencil. and again the font. oh...and what if everything was centered.
