if anyone has any critiques-- be as harsh as you like, i just want to know what i should change, or if i should scrap this completely?

The concept is solid. The hat needs a finer detail work. It is too loose. Maybe a different more easily recognizable hat. Or a parasol.

But i would agree, im not feeling the hat. it looks....off. Like, it dosn't match the style of the girl. The girl looks a bit more hand drawn (even tho im sure its illustrator work maybe) while the hat up top is made of super chunky scribbles of sorts.



who knows, maybe even get rid of the hat altogether! but if you thinking of keeping the hat, id say redraw to fit stylistically more with the girl.



also, this is just a suggestion, but maybe make it a little bigger on the shirt, maybe try having a non-symetrical placement....maybe like bottom-right.



but i think a lot of main work is done and is on the way to becoming a really good submission! nice work...

it's drawn in photoshop, as my computer is not powerful enough to run illustrator. and yes-- the hat bothers me too.. eek.



i'm trying to learn how to draw digitally, and it's quite a different thing than using ink and watercolor as i am used to.

I agree the hat is off....but also the white body is not proportionate so its throwing my eye to two various directions. Personally, I don't think you need the hat or the white body area; they distract the main focus of the mouse face/mask.

I like the illustration of the person/mouse. However, the details need work. Right now they look a little too sketchy to me. Also, the hat does not really look like it is sitting on her head.

The illustration is awesome I love it. Like everyone else keep sayin just work on hat a little more, the only problem with that is I think one you make it look like she's acutally wearing the hat you might loose some part of the great illustration work you did on the girl. Maybe try taking the hat out.

Hat doesn't match the excellent line work on the face/mask and hand. I'd lose the white as well.



I'd love an opinion from a fellow pen, ink and watercolorer (you'd love illustrator.)

"whale rider" is great by the way.

The white of her clothes and the loose lines near it don't do it for me. Looks very CG drawn.



Do you have a pencil drawing of this?

i think the ears should be less pointy, it kindof reminds me of a fox
