As a concept it is quite interesting... perhaps you could explore those time-old methods people used to get across water - bridges and boats etc. Maybe you could have an old fella fishing for birds (flying fish?!)? Would be funny if this village treated their unusual local 'pond' in such a blasé way and saw it as nothing different.
But yeah, cool concept, keep working on it! |

its an awesome idea, but i agree with amanda in the feeling that the sky doesnt fit with the rest of the style.

it's all too square. if you made the sky part look more pond shaped, it would give it a more "naturally" surreal look or whatever :)

cool idea although i'd like to see the sky more stylized to match the ground, and maybe more emphasis on whether the sky is a reflection or is in the hole.

Cool. What about exploring the layers of soil in the cross-section, maybe seeing some wierd things in there?

ooo - this could really go places.
ideas: tilt the perspective on the hole to make it less square and head on. perhaps soften the edges nearest us with some bushes or something. this could also be on a blue tee, with the green being a floating/flying island? i'd also arrange the houses into a more of a community, with perhaps a couple of variations. |

Bright idea! I love the feeling...
Maybe you could try making the sky more cartoonish... and maybe use brighter colours. Also, you could crop the image, the green-no-house-space might not be necassary... You could see how it works with fewer houses... http://www.threadless.com/critique/24220/RGB |
