I really like it, but maybe you could add some lines or something behind it, just to make it seem more like a design than a sticker or something? Know what I mean? Go ahead and add a little flair?

you should just hand draw over those fonts to give it the same feel as the outline of the can

Good idea, work on the execution. The font choices are not working, nor do they curve with the shape of a can. I like the top of the can, with the shaky lines on the tab and such....but it doesn't work with the crisp lines of the rest of the can. Have it shaky or crisp, not both.

That is one huge can of coke! The idea is funny though, it does seem like every drink company wants to shove as many flavors into one can as it can. It's just not natural! I would really work on my type placement in this design, get some cans and really study them, try to mimic not only the typefaces but the layouts too. I don't see many cans that color any more, not since tab went away, so I would change it to something bolder.

Font layouts are also bad.

I'm probably a little late on the up take but I think you need to decide between vintage or bright colors...I donno it seems as if your sitting on the wall here...

What if I made the color of the can a metalic silver? it seems like overly modified sodas are usually colored that way.

Make the bottom and top mettalic. That'd be sweet.

But I wouldn't do the whole can that way.

ok first take a picture of a soda can, then color the whole thing one color (red i guess) then add the logos a little bit more centered and interesting



also use bold colors rather than the faded ones you have.



i think this is a killer idea. i would deff be interested in buying it if you do it right!

I think you need to figure out a better placement for the words. They look very slap-dash. It would work much better if you put more design work into putting the text together as a cohesive whole.



The shadow is quite a bit off. The top could be rounded and the angle of the line in the back is bugging me.



Also, if you are going to center this, you need to scrap the ground shadow you have. I think the others wanted the can itself to have shadows on it.



Play with the text more, especially trying to get it to follow the line/curve of the top of the can. I think you may be playing a few too many fonts, but I think it plays up the content of the image. Perhaps you can add some graphic elements to the design of the can as well. You have a few in there, but I think it needs more.

The typography still doesn't look like a soda can. The font needs to be more active. The words on a soda can are almost never strictly horizontal. Remember, the words Cherry Berry and Lemon Lime are supposed to be just as exciting as the word NEW!



Incidentally...is that really what the metallic ink looks like? It's not working if it does.

Some shadow on the can would be nice. Or something to make it look 3D

BOLD COLORS



needs bold colors.

Since you can see the top of the can, all of the text should bend in a slight u shape. Some of them are horizontal and widened in the middle, which looks weird. Also, the shadow is weird. Get out a can of soda and draw how its shadow actually looks. This design has a lot of potential. GOOD LUCK

dont draw the can, take a picture of it and edit it so its one color, the shape would be better and i think it would look more interesting

Use Illustator's 3D engine to wrap the text around a cylindrical shape.

Print the type out, wrap it around a can and draw it by hand. I think part of your problem is that you're trying to make this without looking at reference. Using reference isn't cheating, use it!

I like the drawn can & the vintage-lookin' colors.

Do wrap the text to the can and fix the word placement a wee bit.

It still looks flat. Try adding more contrast and maybe some highlights to make the can itself look three-dimensional.

The words are sorta curved... but they still don't follow the curve of the can. It just looks weird if the can is curved and 3D but the text doesn't follow it. Actually most of the text doesn't look curved, other than 'chocolate'. It needs to follow the curve of the can.



Aside from that I think this is a great idea, and I know someone I'd buy it for. :)

Does he mean a sunburst? Might work...but I like this concept...you could also do this as a coffee theme "iced double half-caf de-caf soy mocha caramel latte" etc... I agree with vixyish, the curve of all the text should follow the can. Oh, and not on white t-shirt...pick a color from the can!

the text still isn't really following the circular can. Make the transform more extreme at the two ends. Maybe draw some guides based on the lid and try to match the text with those.

I'd say that the shadow shouldn't be a completely different color, but should instead be a darker shade of the color of the can itself - you never see shadows that are a completely different color, shadows are just shades.

Also the shadow is too dark. I would suggest making the shadow out of little horizontal lines so that the shadow doesn't look like a separate color.

I do like the idea though, just needs a touch-up.

hmmm no... maybe take a photo of a can whita a paper with lines on it to guide you ... just to get the idea of how the words curve... ant trace over it.

Its just not something i would wear personally. I also think it needs to look a whole load better considering how critical you can be of other peoples work ;-)

Ending, I fail to see how someone who gives an average score of 3.01 is "too critical."

lol nah i mean i can remember some really harsh comments he has made. They were kinda mean. Its not a personal attack, just pushing him to get the design looking great.

And I am aware that this is not ready for submission. Right now I only have time to make small changes at a time. But it will be ready some day!

I think the main problem with this design is that the perspective is a litte off from the top to the bottom of the can. Also some work on making the text look like it is more 3d would do wonders.

also if you could cruz on over to my critique and go to town with it that would be great

Text is getting better, but it is still far from being good. You need to think about the spacing between words and letters, there's too much space in between some & not enough in other areas. You seriously need to do some typography research.



Aside from that, I think the can needs to look more hand drawn (like the wording). It's too straight & crisp now.

I kinda wanted the text to look a little crammed in some places. Like they were using so many flavors that they were unable to fit them in.

You are not understanding what I mean.



If you squint at your text layout, you will see strange negative shapes within.



There are ways to make text appear to be crammed, but yet still aesthetically pleasing and graphically done correctly.



You study the difference between tracking and kerning.

Design is more than just text... there are graphic elements in there as well. Look at the local can of coke/pepsi... some big name. Notice how the background isn't a plain color. There are dots, lines, shapes, and all sorts of fun eye catching and unifying things happening. Perhaps a stroke or outline of the text would fill in some of the negative space mentioned by mezo.

Oh, I would ditch the underlining if it is not going to play a part in the design on the can itself. It looks a little foolish just hanging there all by its lonesome.

i think now it's a bit busy... however, you could do stuff on the shirt other than just the can...
