Neat! Focus on the mane! Link the Dandies with the Lion = Fluffy dandelion mane!
k8mcm on May 18 '08
Beautifully placed on the shirt.
What if the lion was just white linework with no fill? |
riannaw on May 18 '08
I love it. Especially on the navy. But yes, I would pump up the volume on the mane. Otherwise it looks like the lion hasn't washed in a while. Can you make the vector shirt darker to match the picture?
EricDiaz on May 18 '08
I like this idea but i think it could use some improvement. The lion looks kind of like a rat in my opinion the way it's back end is shaped. I would try this on a dark brown shirt with a lighter brown/orange colored lion as an option.

kate0122 on May 18 '08
Love the lion but I think the dandelions go up a bit far on the t-shirt? Hmmmm

sorry about the double post everyone. My computer wasn't cooperating and I didn't think it had sent.
I worked with the first batch of suggestions, and I'm going to see if I like the orange and tan colors. What do you think? I like the white outlines, but I feel like it needs a bit more color. |
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
lol, it looks like he's being attacked by the dandelions now! Move them off his face?
hahaha, okay. i'll try and change that.
thanks. |
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
BTW, I REALLY like the single color design. It'll really help as you move this concept forward!
Kresta on May 18 '08
I want this shirt!

I hope this looks a bit better. Does it still look like his face is being attacked?
riannaw on May 18 '08
Wow, I really like this now. Especially like the white outline version. I would definitely buy this.
for those that said don't submit, and needs work:
could you tell me what needs to be done please? i really appreciate all of the feedback. |
DrObvious03 on May 18 '08
This is cool, id maybe shade that back leg differently it just takes to much attention off everything else. But great idea and good work.
NJz Kollectionz on May 18 '08
Love the play on words:) Makes me smile
thats a good point dr obvious.
nice name. :D thanks te' all of yeh. |
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
Hey it looks great! Put the front leg he's holding up in front of the dandelions? :)
alright cheers. and thanks a lot electric, you've been a great help.

alright, sorry again. my computer is acting up, and now there are 3 of the same image.
I'm giving 2 options now. Which do you prefer? The one on the left is the original and I made the leg less noticeable and the front paw comes in front of the dandelions like electric said. |
DrObvious03 on May 18 '08
nice change to the leg but now im torn. I like both of them. V1 has the nice trail and v2 is a good close up. Im leaning more towards 1 but lets see what the rest of the community thinks.
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
Both! Put the head on the fully bodied one? Ditch the front leg altogether? What do you think Orange?
what do you mean?
just have the head and the trail of dandelions behind? |
this concept is pure genius.
v.1 for sure. But please give him a fourth leg and make him so he doesn't look like he is grimacing. |
thanks a lot. he has a fourth leg. Its holding the top of his head.
and i guess the grimace was originally shock...but the eye changed from a dot to a full eye. i'll see what i can do. |
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
No. Try taking the body from the left, give it a front leg firmly planted on the ground. then put the head on the left on the body on the right. Then, put a Gazzelle facing him, blowing in his face! :)
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
Maybe put the Gazzelle on the back of the shirt
haha, my original design had a zebra blowing off the seeds. i will vectorize him tonight to see if it looks better.
thanks so much for helping! |
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
lol, that's because genius' think alike ;)
jaywalkergraphics on May 18 '08
Um, that's "geniuses", Electric? :D
One of the best critiquers I've run into, tho, orangehead! You're in good hands. Love how this is going. |
Electricsalmoon on May 18 '08
That was SO on purpose
jaywalkergraphics on May 18 '08
Ha!

jakattack on May 18 '08
Definetly version 1, but 2 is great, just not as great. :)

here is the introduction of the zebra. right now the zebra will go on the back of the shirt, right on the edge before the wrap around.
jaywalkergraphics on May 19 '08
This is becoming so cool. :)
I think I would have to vote for putting all four paws firmly on the ground, tho. Just seems a little unnatural to me. Really coming along nicely! |
oh right, i forgot...sorry. :(
the paw will go down shortly. |

paw down.

jaywalkergraphics on May 19 '08
That's a lot better. :)
Really great progression on this critique! |
EricDiaz on May 19 '08
oooh, this has improved.. What about doing an elephant blowing through his horizontally outstretched trunk?! I like the close up version better than the one on the tee, try just that centered on the chest without the rest of the dandelion seeds.
King_Ralf on May 19 '08
i like the elephant idea, with the trunk lapping around the shirt, i think you need to see whats blowing it on the front.
Mr. Raab on May 19 '08
this is one of the most unique Ideas I have seen in a long time
Lonkiponk on May 19 '08
I'm coming into this critique very late, but I like what I see. I agree with eric about putting the close up version on the front of the T.
k8mcm on May 19 '08
Looks great with the white line work, and also with the paw down, really stabilizes the composition.
What if you play with the blow aways a little? I really like the way they move up and over the chest. At the moment the curve is a little orderly and 'polite', what if you make it a bit more random, overlapping, more variety of proximity & space. My first go, if you're interested |
kombuchacup on May 19 '08
wheres the second version. i liked it
Electricsalmoon on May 19 '08
LOL, I love the zebra! This is awesome!!! Both feet down looks nice. I'm gonna nit-pic now, have you tried having the mane not go over his face? For perspective sake, his mane should start after his chin and end under his ear laening away from his nose. Now, if this Is your style, then leave it! Looking fantastic!

I too really liked the simplicity of removing the trail of dandelions. I like the elephant idea too, but I think I'd do that only if it stayed a wraparound so the trunk would follow to the front.
I hope you all like this one. And electrics: I pushed the dandelions back a little bit, for perspective's sake, but not too much. |
snegoratchka on May 19 '08
This may not be a terribly helpful thing to say in a critique- but I absolutely love this. I love the zebra calling the lion's bluff, I love the style, I love the colors. I most love the one dandelion seed hanging out on his tail. Lovely!
jaywalkergraphics on May 19 '08
Hmm. I'll let some others weigh in here, first.

HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! Okay, now I HAVE TO HAVE THIS SHIRT.
EricDiaz on May 19 '08
looking good! I totally agree with your above comment about only doing the wrap around version if you choose the elephant (it might even be worth it to show the lion/elephant wrap around as an option). That way the trunk will give a hint to what's on the back of the tee. I defiantly prefer it design centered on the chest. Good luck on this, i'll be voting high!
Electricsalmoon on May 19 '08
I really miss the trail blowing into the wind.
You nailed it on the mane! Elephant on the back might be a really funny addition! But you don't listen to me! I'll have you rearranging your designs for months! :P PERFECT. SUBMIT! LOL, IT"S FREECKIN AWESOME NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO AT THIS POINT!!! :) :) :) The back front leg is a different color than the rear ;) |
Avifauna on May 19 '08
i LOVE the idea!!
hahaha. Electrics! you're the best. And I listen!!!
I made an elephant, but... it does not look as good in my opinion, every time I change it, it keeps looking like it is just lifting its trunk. i prefer the zebra's lips i guess. THANKS EVERYONE!!!! I'm just gonna fix the little tidbits, and then submit it today centered on the shirt! :) |

Great job Orange! BTW, I REALLY like Tree Monster! They'll both be getting a big fat 5!
thanks a lot!
i wish i had known how great the critiques are. I always felt the need to rush the designs through. I bet it'd be 10 times better! Lookin' forward to more of your critiques! |
jaywalkergraphics on May 19 '08
Good for you, orange! I'll be looking out for it! :)
