Hello! I've been on Threadless for a little while, just sitting around and scoring designs like a bum, so I decided on a whim to put up one of my vector designs for critique. Actually, it was less of a whim and more of a long cycle of little adjustments and second-guessing.

The portrait is of Franz Kafka, one of my favorite authors, and the huge "dung beetle" from his (probably) most well-known story, The Metamorphosis. As it stands now, it'll be four colors, nothing fancy (unless you guys insist), on a nice, heather-gray tee, because I love gray.

I like his portrait in the beetle, but the circles are doing nothing for the design. I remember him turning into a cockroach, but it has been some time since I read the story. Try replacing the dots with something else.

Critique Mine?

Thanks. Would a more obvious or defined splatter effect would look good? Or something different entirely?

I think splatter effects are overused, particularly standard ones people get from vector packs. Making your own may work.
How about some background bugs, or bug parts?

That is a good point. I'll give it a shot when I have a chance to edit it.

I reworked the design with bugs in the background instead of the dots, which no one seemed to like. I also added the text on the bottom because I thought it looked neat in the last preview. Will belt printing allow for the printing on the sleeves, or will I have to get rid of those vermin?

the bugs in the back give this a pajama feel, is this from a story? Maybe that's a good thing if it's a child story.

Ah, thanks. It's a portrait of Franz Kafka, the author of The Metamorphosis, which is a story about a man who turns into a bug. Not exactly a kids story, though...

i like the idea.. i dont like the all-over pattern tho.. maybe keep the pattern but not EVERYWHERE.. keep it in the chest area or inside a peticular shape maybe..

Alright. I did have the pattern only in an oval around the bug before.
