Ok well I tried to put this up in critique earlier a few hours ago but I didn't see it show up so I'll try again :)
This idea was originally for the Joy of Text blog competition but as I missed the deadline (by alot) due to personal time constraints, but I decided to proceed and finish it anyways. The idea originally came to me when for no particular reason as I was in the elevator the song just got stuck in my head. Anyways I've always liked it and find that as dorky as it is I've found that this kid's song really does make me feel happier when I'm in a foul mood.
All the lettering is done by me using my mouse and is not an existing font. I lined the "writing" up with tracings of my own hands. Hopefully the idea comes off as I intended. I also made the print very large as I didn't want the hands to look like they're "groping" the wearer hehe.
Comments and crit are welcome. If you do not like it for some reason kindly say why and what changes you would like rather than just voting you hate it without any way for me to improve. Thanks alot!
Gah! Still no constructive crit? I honestly thought the presentation looked good... so without any suggestions I'm not sure exactly how I would "improve" it for those who think it needs more work.
As a side note the lettering showing to the left side of the image is actually a less blobby & clearer when shown up actual 14"x14" size. When I shrunk it down it didn't get proportionatly smaller and finer and I just didn't have the patience to fix it for a critique forum.
I'm really hoping to get a little more ouf of this than "the hands are odd" or "bad presentation" without any further elaboration.
Ok well Version 2 is more of a Version A , B, & C for people to choose from. Ie: placement options perhaps different colors etc.
I'm linking to bigger files of the various images and I'm hoping that the links will work the first time. If not please bear with me till I get the correct linking posted :)
Btw thanks for the comments Mezo. I really don't want it to look "money shot" as I didn't really like that shirt. And thanks tsfr, I hope you can see the clearer writing.
Thanks Nate! :D I'll check back later then to see what you think.
Ideally, I'm hoping to have a final version ready to push into actual scoring in the next day or two. I really wish I could come up with ideas faster. This one I worked on and off for a little over month.
Oooh, I like it. [: Nice job, first of all. Second, I don't think you should go with the hands actually clapping...I mean, it works better for the concept, but the words look jumbled up.
Bleh... once last time! I'm now working on a final version to sub so if anyone has any suggestions or comments please add to it quickly. =)
At this moment I'm working under the assumption that Version B is probably the best of the 3. Now that Mezo mentioned it every time I see Vers A all it makes me think of the hands in money shot. Anyways thats about it. Playing with maybe having the words be alternating colors to make it look a little "happier".
Again it's hard to judge what is "wrong" since so few people actually score stuff in this new section and it seems most people who do score stuff don't like to leave any comments. Well I take that back.. people with well known screen names get lots of comments :P
Ok well this is my final version. I'm pushing it into the running but through the regular submission form. I've chosen to change the thumbnail icon and by pushing it into the running from here it won't let me change it. I'm going to try to keep the name as close as possible.
The third version is best... But there's just something disturbing about hands on a T-shirt, and its not only yours. Not a fan of the idea but I like the colors. This design is done... Submit and fogetabotit.
i like the upper placement on the last one.. i don't like the lower placement of the hands, because it looks like you're pregnant or something if you don't read the text. haha!
