Goldendust, I'm sorry your monitor is broken cause these colors rule! J/k, this design lends itself easily to playing with colors. I appreciate your input. It is difficult to talk about colors but I'll do my best, if you can be more specific about "clashing."

These are different shades of the same hue. In other words, a direct vertical transition from light to dark. I can push the light red warmer so it pops more and push the darkest shade cooler so it receeds a bit. Would that help? Or I can use entirely different colors too. is it that the values are too close to each other?

I like your idea about the smaller bubble at the top. In fact, I liberally interpret that as "work on the corner transitions." Do you mean the upper left corner above the pink gear, or the upper right across from the woman's face?

I'd like to see more contrast between the objects and the t-shirt. Havin a dark colored t-shirt and giving the bubblegum all kind of rainbowcolors would be very stylish.

Ok, I just find the design kinda "funky" so I'd like to see the colors be so too. If you forexample made some of the colors UV or Super glowing, I'd definately wanna buy this!

I tried to incorporate everyone's feedback to get more discussion going. I first modified the darkest value to make it more "berry" and less mauve. This heightens contrast (for good or ill, yet to be decided) and makes the darkest value a bit cooler. I then tried to work in other color suggestions while retaining the three color scheme. Finally, as Goldendust asked, I've provided details.

This may be too literal an addition, or it may be just the ticket, but I've added dreaming children (blowing bubblegum, naturally). Also very slightly punched down the lower value. I designed it in high key, and feel it works best that way. If one of the other color choices does it for you, by all means speak up. :)

The children were a full-barrel response to Goldendust's comment, though the original request was for a small bubble so I may thrown that in instead.

The kids are excellent! This is a little more busy than the original. I like both, but I like the first version better. Still gets $5 from me and I would buy it either way.

The kids are part of the original "meaning" behind the design, which I won't go into because personal interpretations are best.

Hi Dragon, I like the lines and circles of your art, It's very pleasant to look to your work and the color seems to be perfect for a bubble gum! I would say it goes for a $5, although I prefer version 2, the pink one.

A color choice, excellent. Do you mean that you like the colors in the detail on version 2 or the pink shirt itself with the black, white, and pink colors?

This is for color selection. Firm choices appreciated. I'm leaning heavily towards white or cream.

I like the changes from version 1 to version 4. I think that the light pink color would be a good choice for the young female demographic...

I'm with you on the cream. That's my favorite by far. I'm not a fan of the grey-ish brown in the bottom left, but the rest are all great! Great work! If this gets printed I'd buy it for sure!

Mmmm! Lots of work and bubbly goodness! I totally agree with cream- it's more dreamy than the white! I like the children very much... They give a sense of scale and floatyness. I just hope it isn't changing the original mood too much. It's all up to what you are trying to achieve stylistically.

Another suggestion... You could use the children to give more sense of perspective, by lining the larger ones darker to make them appear closer... but only if you wanted to play around some more. No guarantee it will look better though. If you're happy, then just submit it. I think its fantastic :D

I'm posting a placement version now. The colors are not the focus, but placement.

You've given me much excellent feedback on the colors, which I appreciate and will work on later today. In the meantime I'd welcome your input on placement and scale.

The placement in the white T above has a couple things going for it. You can be drawn into the design by the right shoulder, following the kids down into the main image. Or you can be drawn in by the "bullseye" which will be in the solar plexus/bellybutton area.

What are your thoughts on placement and/or scale? Thanks.

I definitely like the cream best. I think it's cool the way the face sits in the corner. I didn't notice her at first, like those old optical illusions ("Is it two faces or a vase?"). Nice job!
