that beakless bird is oddly disturbing



and i like it, have you tried making a speech bubble for the chirp? and there's something about the legs that disturbs me, but this is looking good

I had thought about the speech bubble, especially after i had placed the design on the grey shirt.



if I can amass a few more suggestions, that bubble will make it's way into version 2, thanks!

haha! He's cool! Looks good on the shirt too. I don't mind it without a speech bubble, but I would like to see it with one.....just so I can decide which is better ;)

I'm just going to make the speech bubble and skip over waiting for another suggestion, I tend to forget how dead the critique blogs are unless you whore the URL out in every other critique (/rant)

I get you humor here, but many wouldn't - needs a little more mass appeal to make it on this site, I've found.

I think that the halftones look ok on the bird but it is too much, i'd say. I agree with Methuzala, though.

by the way, I think I like your first version best out of the three.

thanks for the comments, the halftone has grown on me though, the stark color presentation (non halftoned) wasn't doing anything for me.

I think the shape of your speech bubble isnt helping the design. I feel it actually takes away importance from the bird. Maybe try using a different shape? Play a little with the colors?

i like the new bubble! the other one seemed too, mmm, not sure what but too much something, if you wanted to portray him as being somewhat angry maybe throwing some red in it would help



Have you tried different tee colors? Maybe another one will provide better contrast and make your birdie pop out more (that's what she said)



And there's the legs issue, are they like cutt off? It's the only thing that still bothers me, maybe just change the placement to all low on the tee so the legs dont seem cut off, just that you just can't see them

hah this is so disturbing but pretty awesome at the same time. there is definitely something wrong with the legs, and the P in CHIRP kinda bugs me. otherwise, i would totally wear this.

I didn't say anything about the P cause i thought i was the only one, but i think what phoebe means is howit's lines look much less organice than the CHIR, i'm sure that won't take long to fix

yeah, I had consciously chosen to make the "p" blocky, but I'll play around with it and see if I like it different.



The legs are off kilter because I cut off the front three talons.



I had built a "nest" that didn't survive to version one, so I may revisit that.

The nest is ok but i think it's taking attention away from the bird, i like the birdie by itself, did you try the low placement? I think something like this



And please not green, maybe brown would work, but i much prefer the gray over green



And now that i see the back of the bird i think you need to smooth the edges a bit



But in the end is your design, feel fre to disregard any or all of my suggestions =)

best version so far. i like the nest and the placement a lot.



however, i don't like the teeth. remove or change them, idk but thats just my eyes

Try dropping the bird lower onto the typewriter. Low enough on the typewriter that the bird is just sitting on the lower row of keys.

Maybe bring a little of the black into the typewriter in a similar fashion to how the bird is overlapped?
